One must occur that year . History shows that
the 15th year of Roman Emperor Tiberius Caesar
overlapped on A .D. 29. He began reigning in
Rome at Augustus' death on August 19, A .D . 14.
Hence the 15th year of Tiberius' reign extended
from August 19, A .D . 28, to August 18, A .D. 29.
Luke 3 :1-6 tells us that in Tiberius' 15th year
John the baptizer appeared and began baptizing
and announcing God's kingdom . John was about
six months older than his cousin according to the
flesh, Jesus . John the son of a temple priest rightly
began his public ministry at thirty years of
age. Numbers 4 :1-47 On this basis Jesus came
to John to be baptized about six months later, for
Jesus was thirty years old when baptized . Jesus
must become Messiah or Anointed One that year,
A.D. 29, according to Daniel's prophecy . He did
become such then by being anointed with the
spirit of God : "Now when all the people were
baptized, Jesus also was baptized and, as he was
praying, the heaven was opened up and the holy
spirit in bodily shape like a dove came down upon
him, and a voice came out of heaven : You are
my Son, the beloved ; I have approved you.'
