CHAPTER XXII THE REMNANT OF KINGDOM HEIRS DURING the second presence of Christ there must be a remnant of his faithful followers on earth, joint heirs with him of the heavenly kingdom . Nineteen centuries ago, after establishing the Memorial of Christ's death, he said to his loyal apostles : "You are the ones that have stuck with me in my trials ; and I make a covenant with you, just as my Father has made a covenant with me, for a kingdom, that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel ." Luke 22 :28-30, NW With these words he notified them he was taking them into the Davidic covenant for the Kingdom with him . In his revelation to the apostle John he confirmed this covenant with his footstep followers by adding : "To him that conquers and observes my deeds down to the complete end I will give authority over the nations, and he shall shepherd the people with an iron rod so that they will be broken to pieces like clay vessels, the same as I have received from my Father, and I will give him the morning star ." 226 "THIS MEANS EVERLASTING LIFE" with me in my throne, even as I conquered and sat down with my Father in his throne ."-Revelation 2 :26-28 and 3 :21, NW . 2 During all the centuries since the giving of those Kingdom promises, the calling and choosing of the believers and the preparing and proving of them worthy of the Kingdom has been going on. Since the Kingdom class is finally only 144,000 with their Head Jesus Christ, then at the consummation of this system of things there must be only the last members, a remnant of the ones called and chosen for the Kingdom, yet on earth . 3 Describing the work that marks his second presence, Jesus used a parable of the kingdom of heaven and said : "As for the right kind of seed, these are the sons of the kingdom ; . . . The harvest is a consummation of a system of things, and the reapers are angels . Therefore, just as the weeds are collected and burned with fire, so it will be in the consummation of the system of things . The Son of man will send forth his angels, and they will collect out from his kingdom all things that cause stumbling and persons who are doing lawlessness, and they will pitch them into the fiery furnace. There is where their weeping and the gnashing of their teeth will be . At that time the righteous ones will shine as brightly as the sun in the kingdom of their Father ." Matthew 13 :38-43, NW The harvesting of the King- 2 . Why could there be only a remnant of such yet on earth? 3 . How did Jesus describe the harvest of the Kingdom class?

OF KINGDOM HEIRS<br />

DURING the second presence of Christ there<br />

must be a remnant of his faithful followers<br />

on earth, joint heirs with him of the heavenly<br />

kingdom . Nineteen centuries ago, after establishing<br />

the Memorial of Christ's death, he said to<br />

his loyal apostles : "You are the ones that have<br />

with you, just as my Father has made a<br />

covenant with me, for a kingdom, that you may<br />

on thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel ."<br />

Luke 22 :28-30, NW With these words he notified<br />

them he was taking them into the Davidic<br />

covenant for the Kingdom with him . In his revelation<br />

to the apostle John he confirmed this covenant<br />

with his footstep followers by adding : "To<br />

him that conquers and observes my deeds down<br />

to the complete end I will give authority over the<br />

nations, and he shall shepherd the people with<br />

an iron rod so that they will be broken to pieces<br />

like clay vessels, the same as I have received from<br />

my Father, and I will give him the morning star ."<br />

"To the one that conquers I will grant to sit down<br />
