CHAPTER XXII
THE REMNANT
OF KINGDOM HEIRS
DURING the second presence of Christ there
must be a remnant of his faithful followers
on earth, joint heirs with him of the heavenly
kingdom . Nineteen centuries ago, after establishing
the Memorial of Christ's death, he said to
his loyal apostles : "You are the ones that have
stuck with me in my trials ; and I make a covenant
with you, just as my Father has made a
covenant with me, for a kingdom, that you may
eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit
on thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel ."
Luke 22 :28-30, NW With these words he notified
them he was taking them into the Davidic
covenant for the Kingdom with him . In his revelation
to the apostle John he confirmed this covenant
with his footstep followers by adding : "To
him that conquers and observes my deeds down
to the complete end I will give authority over the
nations, and he shall shepherd the people with
an iron rod so that they will be broken to pieces
like clay vessels, the same as I have received from
my Father, and I will give him the morning star ."
