"TIME OF THE END"<br />

BEGINNING with Nebuchadnezzar king of<br />

Babylon, who was first to destroy Jerusalem,<br />

the Gentile nations of this world were permitted<br />

to rule a long time without opposition or<br />

interference by God's kingdom, either earthly or<br />

heavenly. When Jerusalem was destroyed in<br />

607 B.C., and her domain was completely desolated,<br />

the typical kingdom of God with that city<br />

as its capital was overturned . At that time Satan<br />

the Devil, the invisible power behind King Nebuchadnezzar,<br />

became in the broadest sense of<br />

the expression "the god of this system of things" .<br />

2 Corinthians 4 :4, NW He had now made a big<br />

step toward realizing his selfish ambition : "For<br />

thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into<br />

heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of<br />

God : I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation,<br />

in the sides of the north : I will ascend<br />

above the heights of the clouds ; I will be like the<br />

most High." Isaiah 14 :4,13,14 So with the disappearance<br />

of the typical kingdom of God from<br />

the mount of the congregation at Jerusalem the<br />

"appointed times of the nations" began . God's<br />

kingdom was not to interfere with the Gentile<br />
