tested by the truth as to whether he will believe,
accept and apply it. The experience of the natural
Jews with the Law of Moses for fifteen centuries
illustrates that by our own works of self-righteousness
we cannot be justified with God . We can
be declared righteous by God only by our faith
in him together with his Son Jesus Christ, the
sin-removing Lamb of God . So the faith-inspiring
truth plays an initial part in a person's being born
for entry into God's kingdom . In harmony with
that, those who are born again are told : "Because
he willed it, he brought us forth by the word of
truth, for us to be a certain firstfruits of his creatures."
James 1 :18, NW "For you have been
given a new birth, not by corruptible, but by incorruptible
reproductive seed, through the word
of the living and enduring God . ' . . . the word
spoken by Jehovah endures forever' . Well, this
is the word spoken', this which has been declared
to you as good news ."-1 Peter 1 :23-25,

Having now heard the truth, how does a person
prove by his deeds that he accepts it and has faith
in God and his Christ? When Jesus had preached
the truth to those who were to become his disciples,
how did he prove their faith? By saying
to them : "Be my follower ." Those men were already
members of the Jewish nation, a people
already dedicated to Jehovah God under the terms
of the Law covenant by Moses . But now that was
