taining the heavenly kingdom of God . That is why
the apostle links incorruption with the Kingdom,
saying : "Flesh and blood cannot inherit God's
kingdom, neither does corruption inherit incorruption
." And concerning Jesus' resurrection to
heavenly life he says : "And that fact that he
resurrected him from the dead destined no more
to return to corruption, he has stated in this way :
I will give you people the loving-kindnesses of
David which are dependable .' Hence he also says
in another psalm, You will not grant your man
of loving-kindness to see corruption .' " 1 Corinthians
15 :50 and Acts 13 :34,35, NW The fact
that Jesus was resurrected from the dead proved
that he had laid down the perfect sacrifice to ransom
mankind and afford them everlasting life on
earth . By being raised from death he was recovered
from the wound with which the Serpent
bruised him. Because he was raised from the dead,
not flesh and blood, but a spirit clothed with immortality,
he could not return to corruption, but
he could ascend to God's- heavenly presence and
there present the value of his ransom sacrifice .
By his own resurrection change and entry into
heaven, he shed light upon incorruption for his
faithful followers and opened the way to immortal
life in heaven for them . What good news this
provided!
