How would you describe CTL applications to our readers?
Nakata: The CTL – the Compact Track Loader – is designed to
undertake a wide range of tasks from carrying and
loading materials to leveling ground surfaces. It is most
widely used in housing construction, general civil
engineering, and landscaping applications. It is also
ideal for a wide variety of dairy farming and other
agricultural functions. Since it is designed to efficiently
carry out the job-at-hand while on-the-go, the obvious
value of the CTL is especially noteworthy when being
operated in the vast open spaces found throughout
North America.

What were the goals set for the development of these models?
Nakata: In order to positively respond to the emerging
expectations of users, the primary goal set was to
develop an exceptionally reliable product with a
superior basic performance and outstanding durability
that would also surpass competitors’ products in quality
and cost.
Kojima: A mini excavator is designed primarily for digging
operations, but a CTL can be fitted with a variety of
attachments to carry out a broader range of tasks. This
means that there is an expansive market for this
product.
As the development team member responsible for the
marketing aspects of this project, I led the survey team
that visited several locations to observe a variety of
applications being undertaken in order to gain firsthand
knowledge of how a CTL performs in actual situations.
In addition, I conferred with dealers handling the
products of our competitors.
