System Security<br />

Manager<br />

• Use security facility to monitor the system security status, to delegate<br />

privileges to perform functions on behalf <strong>of</strong> the System Security Manager<br />

• Review audit logs and adjust auditing settings<br />

• Review security dashboards<br />

• Create custom reports<br />

1.5 Assumptions and Constraints<br />

1.5.1 Assumptions<br />

The following assumptions are made regarding <strong>NASIS</strong>:<br />

• Schools have high-speed (T1 or better) access to the Internet with the exception <strong>of</strong> 11 schools that<br />

have MCI satellite connections, the bandwidth <strong>of</strong> which varies from 512 to 856 kbps.<br />

• All BIA funded schools will utilize the <strong>NASIS</strong> critical funding and required reporting elements<br />

• All user equipment meets minimum s<strong>of</strong>tware and hardware requirements required by <strong>NASIS</strong><br />

• Supplemental training will be provided via ‘online’ delivery or similar technologies<br />

1.5.2 Constraints<br />

These conditions are outside the control <strong>of</strong> the project:<br />

• All ELOs have high-speed (T1 or better) access to the internet<br />

• All ‘Stakeholders’ must be computer literate<br />

1.6 Interfaces or Electronic File to External Systems<br />

Applications or systems with which the subject system must interface:<br />

• U.S. Department <strong>of</strong> Education<br />

• All 23 states’ individual student information systems (import and export) i.e., ADS (New Mexico), SAIS<br />

(Arizona), and SIMS (South Dakota)<br />

• Publishing companies who publish state tests<br />

• The Department <strong>of</strong> Education, state agencies, etc., to generate and export electronic files in the formats<br />

required by said entities, as well as import files - <strong>NASIS</strong> must be SIF and ODBC compliant to accomplish<br />

this<br />

• WebISEP <strong>Indian</strong> Student Equalization Program (until it is replaced by <strong>NASIS</strong>)<br />

• Annual Report website (until it is replaced by <strong>NASIS</strong>)<br />
