Line from Intermountain station in central Utah to Adelanto station in
southern California (IPPDC)
The IPPDC line is a ±500 kV DC bipole system. Power flow on the DC line
is measured at the Intermountain end.
Intermountain to Adelanto (NE-SW): 2400 MW
Adelanto to Intermountain (SW-NE): 1400 MW
Loss of the IPPDC bipole line.
The non-simultaneous transfer rating was established by the Joint WECC
Peer Review Group and Western Arizona Transmission Systems (WATS)
Task Force. The WATS Task Force was comprised of members from the
following companies:

El Paso Electric Company
DOE-Western Area Power Administration
Imperial Irrigation District
Los Angeles Department of Water and Power
Nevada Power Company
Public Service Company of New Mexico
Salt River Project
San Diego Gas and Electric Company
Southern California Edison Company
Southern California Public Power Authority
Tucson Electric Power Company
The Accepted Rating for NE-SW transfer of 2400MW was established in the
LADWP sponsored Path 27 Project studies conducted within a WECC review
Group that led to approval of the Accepted Rating Report. By the WECC
PCC Chair’s letter dated October 03, 2007, Path 27 Upgrade Rating was
granted Phase III status.
The Existing Rating for SW-NE transfer of 1400MW was established in
conjunction with the DOE Form IE-411 reporting in 1989. The SW-NE
rating was established jointly by LADWP and PacifiCorp-Utah Power.
