Path 3 has been accepted into Phase 2 of the Path Rating Process with a South to North Planned Rating of 3000 MW. Under system normal configuration and realistic, favourable system conditions, applying single and double contingencies in BPA, Columbia Grid & BC hydro systems, the steady state power flow and transient stability studies have shown that with proper mitigation, the Northwest-British Columbia Path rating (South to North) can be increased to 3000 MW from the current rating of 2000 MW. The study also shows that loss of one of two Custer (BPA)-Ingledow (BCH) 500 kV lines would overload the remaining 500 kV line if S-N transfer is more than 3000 MW.
