Some of actual flows on Brownlee East (Path 55), Hemingway - Summer
Lake 500 kV (Path 75), and the Hemingway – Boardman 500 kV line.
TotBeast is limited by Idaho-Northwest (Path 14) constraints. Thermal
overloads on the Imnaha-Lolo section of the Oxbow-Lolo 230 kV line and/or
the Hells Canyon-Brownlee 230 kV line for the N-1 loss of the Hemingway-
Boardman 500 kV line.
This is an expanded version of the Brownlee East (Path 55) that now also
includes Hemingway-Summer Lake (Path 75), and the Hemingway-
Boardman 500 kV line (included in Idaho-Northwest (Path 14) in the West to
East direction.
The 3515 MW west to east transfer rating on TotBeast was studied with high
imports on Idaho-Northwest (Path 14) with the Hemingway-Boardman
500 kV line and on the Hemingway-Summer Lake 500kV line (Path 75), also
included in Idaho-Northwest (Path 14), simultaneous with high flows on
Brownlee East (Path 55), high T E Roach Complex / Elkhorn Wind
generation at peak summer load conditions. This generally coincides with
high hydro conditions in the Northwest with low to moderate eastern thermal
resources.
NERC/WECC Reliability Criteria For Transmission System Planning
At high flows east on Brownlee East (Path 55), the loss of two Brownlee-
Boise Bench 230kV lines requires overload mitigation measure of bypassing
½ series compensation in the remaining two Brownlee-Boise Bench 230kV
lines.
