When the days when woodburning
stoves were a necessity, the tin chimney was taken down
for cleaning during the summer months. But what to do with the
hole in the wall where the chimney attached? Our ancestors had
a good imagination, it seems, for they covered the hole with "flue
cover" prints. Dollmasters offers a selection of these vintage style
flue covers, each with typical metal link frame and ribbon or
metal hanging loop. Each 11" x 8" oval.
It's a simple idea, but so
beautiful. Porcelain panels
are sculpted so when a light is
placed behind them, a scene
shows through. The 19th century
originals used candles, but ours
are electric for your easy use.
Ornate metal work with pedestal
base frames the porcelain. 9".
