Develops entry-level skills in gas metal arc welding.<br />

Specifically develops skills on all position groove and<br />

fillet welds, set-up, adjustment and equipment<br />

Develops advanced skills in gas metal arc welding.<br />

Specifically develops skills on single-vee groove butt<br />

joints in all positions and welder qualification practice.<br />

READING<br />

Units: 1.0 - 16-18 hours lecture. (No prerequisite)<br />

Develops a technical understanding of engineering<br />

drawings and use of information to communicate<br />

instructions from the design to the welder and fitter to<br />

achieve design objectives.<br />

WELD 60A/B/C/D WELDING LABORATORY<br />

Units: 1.0-2.0 - 48-54 hours of laboratory for one unit of<br />

credit. (No prerequisite)<br />

A laboratory class to develop skills in oxyacetylene<br />

welding, arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, flux<br />

cored arc welding and welder qualification preparation.<br />

An open entry/open exit class designed for persons<br />

unable to read beyond the 4th grade level. Students will<br />

receive individualized instruction.<br />

ACOM 30 CITIZENSHIP PREPARATION – Units: 0.0<br />

This course is designed for immigrants eligible for the<br />

naturalization process. Topics include U.S. History and<br />

civic education. This class will focus on practicing<br />

listening and responding to the N-400 application<br />

questions, reading and responding to the 100 questions,<br />

and writing simple sentences to help pass the<br />

naturalization interview.<br />

Open entry/open exit classes designed for students who<br />

need individualized instruction.<br />

BSKL 8A CAHSEE PREPARATION - ENGLISH –<br />

32-36 hours lecture and 24-27 hours laboratory.<br />

The course prepares students to take the CAHSEE in<br />

English. Students review skills in both reading comprehension<br />

and writing skills.<br />

BSKL 8B CAHSEE PREPARATION MATH – Units: 0.0<br />

32-36 hours lecture and 32-36 hours individualized<br />

instruction laboratory.<br />

The course provides supplemental instruction in math in<br />

preparation for California High School Exit Exam<br />

(CAHSEE).<br />

AENG 10.1 ESL LOW BEGINNING SPEAKING AND<br />

This class is for people who do not speak or understand<br />

any English. It will focus on oral skills required for<br />

managing everyday situations such as apartment<br />

problems, transportation, shopping, and medical<br />

emergencies. Frequent use of simulation and role play.<br />

Strong emphasis on vocabulary development, plus<br />

basic grammar.<br />
