ADMISSIONS AND REGISTRATION<br />

2. a. Continuing students with 45.0-90.0 units<br />

completed at VVC.<br />

b. VVC ASB Council members, Work Study students,<br />

student athletes, Phi Theta Kappa members,<br />

PACE program students, Cal Works students, and<br />

K-16 Bridge students (Fall semester only).<br />

3. a. Students with 30.0-44.5 units completed at VVC.<br />

b. Students with 15.0-29.5 units completed at VVC4.<br />

4. New, Returning, Transfer students and students with<br />

more than 90.0 units completed at VVC and returning<br />

fully matriculated students.<br />

5. Concurrently enrolled K-12 students.<br />

Requirements For Registration<br />

The Office of Admissions and Records must receive all<br />

required materials prior to registration at <strong>Victor</strong> <strong>Valley</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong>. Required materials include:<br />

• A completed admissions application and statement of<br />

legal residence to the college. Apply online at<br />

www.vvc.edu.<br />

• For veterans, receipt of a copy of honorable<br />

discharge papers or DD 214. Military personnel on<br />

active duty should submit a copy of their military<br />

orders.<br />

• Applicable International Student forms.<br />

• Establishment of California residency, without which<br />

nonresident tuition must be paid (see Non-Resident<br />

Tuition section in Section VI-Financing Your<br />

Education).<br />

• The completion of all admissions procedures,<br />

orientation, assessment, and program advisement<br />

requirements, except for the exemptions noted in<br />

class schedules.<br />

• Concurrent Enrollment Form (K-12)<br />

• Students (other than Concurrent K-12) may register<br />

for a maximum of 18 units for either fall or spring<br />

semester. Concurrent K-12 students may register for<br />

a maximum of 11 units for either spring or fall<br />

semester. All students may register for a maximum of<br />

8 units for the winter or summer session.<br />

After completing registration through WebAdvisor, it is<br />

important to print a copy of your Registration Statement<br />

and keep a copy for your records. If you add or drop<br />

classes, you should print a new registration statement<br />

after every transaction. You are not officially registered<br />

until you have paid the necessary enrollment fees/tuition<br />

and other fees shown on your Registration Statement.<br />

Priorities for registration are determined at the time of<br />

admission to <strong>Victor</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />

‘Continuing’ and ‘Returning’ Student Status<br />

Continuing: For admissions and registration purposes, a<br />

student is considered to be in continuous attendance<br />

when he or she was enrolled in at least one transcripted,<br />

credit course the previous semester. Such students are<br />

“Continuing Students.”<br />

Returning: Students who return to VVC after an<br />

absence of at least one semester (excluding summer<br />

and winter sessions) are “Returning Students.” Returning<br />

Students must re-apply to VVC and do not have the<br />

same registration priority as Continuing Students.<br />

Program Changes (Adding/Dropping)<br />

It is the student’s responsibility to complete the drop<br />

and/or add process. If a class has a full enrollment and<br />

is closed to registration, students may add themselves to<br />

a wait list (see Wait Lists for more information).<br />

WebAdvisor online registration is the method to use for<br />

adding or dropping classes.<br />

Adding Classes<br />

Students who want to add a class once classes have<br />

started, should do so as soon as possible (see<br />

authorization codes for more information). The deadline<br />

to add a class is strictly enforced. Late adds will be<br />

considered for verifiable extenuating circumstances<br />

only. Students must be registered in class prior to<br />

census.<br />

Authorization Codes<br />

If you are given permission to add a class by an<br />

instructor, an authorization code will be provided to you<br />

and you will register with your code through WebAdvisor.<br />

NOTE: Authorization codes are valid until the deadline to<br />

add classes.<br />

Withdrawing from Classes<br />

A student may drop or withdraw (or be dropped by an<br />

instructor), only before 44% completion of the class.<br />

Students may not drop or be dropped after this point, and<br />

instructors must issue a grade beyond this point. A<br />

student who drops a class (or who is dropped by an<br />

instructor) on or prior to 20% of the course will have no<br />

record of that class on their permanent transcript,<br />

although they may still be responsible for payment of<br />

fees. Drops that occur after 20% of the course, and on<br />

or before 44% of a course, will result in a W grade being<br />

entered. Students may be dropped for lack of attendance<br />

or for “good cause” as defined in the Education<br />

Code, Article 3, Sect. 76033.<br />

STUDENTS SHOULD NOT RELY ON INSTRUCTORS<br />

TO DROP OR WITHDRAW THEM FROM CLASSES.<br />

Failure to officially drop or withdraw by the deadline may<br />

result in the assignment of an F (Failing) or FW<br />

(Unofficial Withdrawal) grade.<br />
