PROGRAMS / COURSE DESCRIPTION<br />

This is not a four-year transfer program, it is not<br />

transferable for advanced standing in a law school, and<br />

is not designed to be a “pre-law” program. The<br />

Paralegal Studies Certificate is not equivalent to a law<br />

school (J.D. degree) program, and thus, does not serve<br />

as a preparation for the bar exam. See a counselor for<br />

transfer requirements to other institutions.<br />

PARALEGAL STUDIES CERTIFICATE<br />

Units Required: 36.0<br />

Students must complete a minimum of 36 units, with at<br />

least 15 units taken in residence at <strong>Victor</strong> <strong>Valley</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong>, with a minimum grade of “C” in all paralegal<br />

classes.<br />

Most Paralegal course descriptions may be found under<br />

Political Science.<br />

PHILOSOPHY<br />

The study of philosophy is dedicated to reflection on the<br />

most fundamental concerns of human life. Students<br />

examine and assess the concepts and arguments<br />

expressed in writings of influential philosophers on such<br />

enduring themes as moral value, religious knowledge,<br />

political order, truth, and ultimate reality. Philosophical<br />

study assists students in developing such valuable and<br />

transferable skills as analytical reading and writing,<br />

creative and critical thinking, and sound judgment.<br />
