FRENCH<br />
The study of French concentrates on explaining and<br />
communicating ideas and concepts by means of<br />
reading, writing, and verbal processes through creative<br />
use of words and study of culture, literature, and<br />
civilization, with classroom emphasis on the spoken<br />
language. This study affords insight into foreign<br />
attitudes and methods and encourages free<br />
communication, written and oral, among people.<br />

Basic structures of French language, inductive<br />
presentation of grammar, simple composition. Emphasis<br />
placed on the spoken language.<br />
FREN 102 ELEMENTARY FRENCH<br />
Units: 5.0 - 80-90 hours lecture. CSU, UC. (Prerequisite:<br />
FREN 101)<br />
Continuation of French 101 stressing review of basic<br />
structures, more advanced grammar, spoken and<br />
written communication.<br />
FREN 103 INTERMEDIATE FRENCH<br />
Units: 3.0 - 48-54 hours lecture. CSU, UC. (Prerequisite:<br />
FREN 102)<br />
Continuation of French 102 with grammar review and<br />
expansion, introduction to simple literary texts, spoken<br />

An introduction to the French language using situations<br />
