FIRE 86 INTERMEDIATE INCIDENT COMMAND<br />

SYSTEM (ICS)<br />

Units: 1.5 - 24-27 hours lecture. (Prerequisite: FIRE 66<br />

or experience as a fire fighter using the ICS system.<br />

Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course expands the firefighting student’s<br />

knowledge of ICS and how to expand the system to fit<br />

the emergency and adds air operations and the control<br />

and management of these resources to the ICS system.<br />

FIRE 87 FIRE MANAGEMENT 2E<br />

Units: 2.0 - 32-36 hours lecture. (No prerequisite)<br />

Designed for Fire Chief Officers, Company Officers and<br />

functional managers, this course provides an overview<br />

of current issues and concepts of today’s modern fire<br />

service. Topics include: governmental relations,<br />

changing “settings/policy formation,” program<br />

management, personnel/labor relations, and the legal<br />

environment.<br />

FIRE 90 PAID CALL FIRE FIGHTER ACADEMY<br />

Units: 3.0 - 32-36 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. (Prerequisite: Complete a physical exam and<br />

demonstrate the physical stamina and ability to safely<br />

operate and control fire service tools, equipment and<br />

apparatus).<br />

The Paid Call Fire Fighter Academy will provide basic<br />

training for individuals interested in becoming a Paid<br />

Call Fire Fighter, and or continuing on to the Basic<br />

Firefighter Academy. This introductory but comprehensive<br />

course gives the student the classroom<br />

theory and manipulative skills required in modern firefighting<br />

activities. Students must attend a mandatory<br />

orientation.<br />

FIRE 91 FIRE CONTROL 5<br />

Units: 1.5 - 24-27 hours lecture and 16-18 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course provides the fire fighter student with the<br />

information, methods and techniques necessary for<br />

providing crash fire rescue services (CFR) at airports.<br />

Subjects include: Utilizing conventional fire and<br />

specialized apparatus, CFR extinguishing agents, types<br />

of aircraft, standby procedures and operations at<br />

airports. Actual firefighting and simulation is featured.<br />

FIRE 93 FIRE MANAGEMENT 2D, MASTER<br />

PLANNING<br />

Units: 2.0 - 32-36 hours lecture. (No prerequisite)<br />

This course provides participants with information and<br />

discussion centering around program planning, master<br />

planning, forecasting, system analysis, system design,<br />

policy analysis, and other tropics. Applies to Chief<br />

Officer certification. State Fire Marshal accredited.<br />

FIRE 94 FIRE COMMAND 2D, PLANNING FOR<br />

LARGE SCALE DISASTERS<br />

Units: 2.0 - 32-36 hours lecture. (No prerequisite)<br />

The principles of disaster planning and the role of the<br />

fire department are discussed. Emergency Operation<br />

Centers (EOC), the role of Federal Emergency<br />

Management Administration (FMA), mutual aid, legal<br />

considerations, and mitigation techniques are topics<br />

covered. Case studies are examined and simulation<br />

exercises are feature.<br />

FIRE 95 BASIC FIRE ACADEMY<br />

Units: 10.0 - 112 hours lecture and 208 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />

Introduction to basic firefighting theory and skills; study<br />

of the characteristics and behavior of fire; practice in<br />

fundamental fire suppression activities, with special<br />

attention on safety, first aid, and rescue procedures.<br />

FIRE 98 FIRE COMPANY OFFICER’S ACADEMY<br />

Units: 1.5 - 24-27 hours lecture and 16-18 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />

This forty-hour course is designed for the fire fighter<br />

student in order to provide students with a brief but<br />

comprehensive overview of the responsibilities of a fire<br />

department company officer. Emphasizes fundamental<br />

techniques of personnel management, supervision and<br />

leadership. Topics covered include: motivating,<br />

coaching and counseling subordinates; basic fire ground<br />

principles; and fire ground tactics and strategies at the<br />

company officer level.<br />

FIRE 99 CHIEF OFFICER’S WORKSHOP<br />

Units: 1.0 - 16-18 hours lecture. (Prerequisites: I-300,<br />

S-430, S-400. State mandated. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course provides the fire fighter student with current<br />

topics and challenges facing the fire service and chief<br />

officer’s as supervisors. Topics include legal issues<br />

resulting from hazardous materials incidents,<br />

emergency medical protocols, terrorism, current<br />

management policies and procedures. CDF certified.<br />
