FIRE TECHNOLOGY<br />
California Fire Service Training and Education<br />
(CFSTES) and Incident Command System by North<br />
West Coordinating Group, or experience as a fire fighter<br />
working within the ICS. Credit No/Credit)<br />
This course will present to firefighting students the skills<br />
and information necessary to prepare them for safe and<br />
effective operations at wildland fires. Meets the training<br />
requirements to work in the Incident Command System<br />
(ICS) Operations Section, as a Single Resource or<br />
Strike Team Leader. North West Coordinating Group<br />
(NWCG) certified. Coordinating Group, or experience as<br />
a fire fighter working within the ICS. Credit No/Credit)<br />
FIRE 80B WILDLAND FIRE SUPPRESSION TACTICS,<br />
S-336<br />
Units: 2.0 - 32-36 hours lecture. (Prerequisites: FIRE<br />
80A, FIRE 66. State mandated. Pass/No Pass)<br />
This course will provide the fire fighter student the<br />
information necessary to operate within the Operations<br />
Section of the Incident Command System. North West<br />
Coordinating Group certified.<br />
FIRE 81 EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN I<br />
Units: 8.0 - 120 hours lecture and 28 hours laboratory.<br />
(Prerequisite: Students must complete TB test and<br />
provide copy of immunization records prior to clinical<br />
training.)<br />
The first phase of training in the Emergency Medical<br />
Technician I career for fire fighters and other emergency<br />
first responders. Covers all techniques of emergency<br />
medical care considered the responsibility of the<br />
Emergency Medical Technician I. Course emphasizes<br />
the development of student skills in recognition of<br />
symptoms of illness and injuries and proper procedures<br />
of emergency care. Course includes certification in<br />
professional CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation).<br />
Approved by the California State Fire Marshal’s Office<br />
and the State Board of Fire Services. Certificate from<br />
Fire Service Training and Education Program (FSTEP)<br />
awarded.<br />
FIRE 81B EMT-I, CONTINUING EDUCATION<br />
RECERTIFICATION<br />
Units: 0.5 - 4 hours lecture and 12 hours laboratory.<br />
(Prerequisite: EMT-1. State and county mandated.<br />
Pass/No Pass. ) This course may be taken four times.<br />
This course provides the student with the information<br />
skills development and testing requirements for<br />
recertification qualification for Emergency Medical<br />
Technician 1 and qualifies for Continuing Education<br />
credit.<br />
FIRE 82 HAZARDOUS MATERIALS FIRST<br />
RESPONDER AWARENESS<br />
Units: 0.5 - 8 hours lecture and 1 hour laboratory. (No<br />
prerequisites).<br />
This course is designed to provide the student with<br />
information essential to those people who are likely to<br />
be first responders at hazardous materials incidents.<br />
Designed to meet federal and state requirements for<br />
awareness training for employees handling and using<br />
hazardous materials.<br />
FIRE 82A HAZARDOUS MATERIALS FIRST<br />
RESPONDER OPERATIONAL<br />
Units: 1.5 - 24-27 hours lecture. (No prerequisite)<br />
To provide participants who are likely first responders<br />
with the necessary awareness of safe and competent<br />
hazardous materials response techniques. Participants<br />
shall also be able to provide safe identification and<br />
assessment evaluation, as well as select safe<br />
containment and protective actions to mitigate the<br />
hazardous materials incident whenever safety and<br />
resource capabilities permit.<br />
FIRE 83 FIRE MANAGEMENT 2C, LABOR AND<br />
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT<br />
Units: 2.0 - 32-36 hours lecture. (No prerequisites)<br />
This course provides the fire fighter student with<br />
knowledge and insight into firefighting personnel, human<br />
resources, and diversity management. Legal mandates,<br />
labor relations, and related areas are explored with a<br />
focus on human resource management and individual<br />
employee development strategies.<br />
FIRE 84 FIRE COMMAND 2A-COMMAND TACTICS<br />
AT MAJOR FIRES<br />
Units: 2.0 - 32-36 hours lecture. (No prerequisite)<br />
This course is designed to provide the student with the<br />
management techniques and use of the Incident<br />
Command System (ICS) necessary for the efficient and<br />
safe command of large fires, multiple alarms and<br />
emergencies requiring large numbers of personnel and<br />
apparatus. Features simulation and case studies to<br />
develop management and command skills. Applies to<br />
Chief Officer Certification. California Fire Service<br />
Training and Education System (CFSTES) approved.<br />
FIRE 85 FIRE MANAGEMENT 2A-ORGANIZATIONAL<br />
DEVELOPMENT AND HUMAN RELATIONS<br />
Units: 2.0 - 32-36 hours lecture. (No prerequisite)<br />
This course provides the student with information on<br />
how to make the transition from supervisor to manager.<br />
Topics of discussion include internal and external<br />
influences; personality traits of fire fighters; managing<br />
