FIRE 61B BASIC AIR OPERATIONS, S-270<br />

Units: 1.0 - 16-18 hours lecture. (Prerequisite: FIRE 66.<br />

State mandated. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course will provide the fire fighter student with a<br />

survey of uses of aircraft in fire suppression and how to<br />

conduct themselves in and around aircraft. Management<br />

policies, regulations, and procedures which govern<br />

aviation operations in fire suppression will be examined.<br />

Aircraft tactical capabilities, logistical uses and<br />

specifications for helicopter landing areas are<br />

discussed. North West Coordinating Group certified.<br />

FIRE 61C HELISPOT MANAGER, S-272<br />

Units: 0.5 - 8-9 hours lecture. (Prerequisite: FIRE 60G.<br />

State Mandated. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course will provide the fire fighter student with an<br />

overview and the information about responsibilities,<br />

procedures and materials required to function as a<br />

Helispot Manager within the Incident Command System.<br />

North West Coordinating Group certified.<br />

FIRE 61D RESOURCE UNIT LEADER/<br />

DEMOBILIZATION UNIT LEADER<br />

Units: 2.0 - 32-36 hours lecture. (Prerequisites: FIRE<br />

61E and FIRE 66.1. State mandated. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course prepares the fire fighter student to work as<br />

a resource unit leader/demobilization unit leader within<br />

the Incident Command System. The responsibilities,<br />

duties and materials required to function in this position<br />

are discussed. North West Coordinating Group certified.<br />

FIRE 61E CHECK IN/STATUS RECORDER, S-248<br />

Units: 0.5 - 32-36 hours lecture. (Prerequisites: FIRE<br />

61E and FIRE 66.1. State mandated. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course will provide the fire fighter student with the<br />

information required to function in the position of Check<br />

In/Status Recorder within the Resources Unit of the<br />

Incident Management System (ICS). North West<br />

Coordinating Group certified.<br />

FIRE 61F STAGING AREA MANAGER<br />

Units: 0.5 - 8-9 hours lecture. (Prerequisite: FIRE 60G,<br />

S-200. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course will provide the fire fighter student with<br />

information about the duties, responsibilities and<br />

materials required to function as a staging area<br />

manager. Fire Service Training Education Program<br />

(FSTEP) certified.<br />

FIRE 61G FIRE LINE EMERGENCY MEDICAL<br />

TECHNICIAN (EMT)<br />

Units: 0.5 - 8-9 hours lecture. (Prerequisites: FIRE 81,<br />

current EMT­-I certification (state mandated per<br />

CFSTES policy), employment as a fire fighter in a public<br />

or private fire service organization. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This eight hour course is designed to prepare the fire<br />

fighter, Emergency Medical Technician to safely operate<br />

at a major wildland fire incident at the fire line location.<br />

Course covers duties and responsibilities of the Fire<br />

Line EMT; equipment needs, helicopter safety, the<br />

Incident Command System (ICS) organization, review of<br />

treatments for common fire line injuries, and use of<br />

makeshift aids.<br />

FIRE 63 APPARATUS DRIVER/OPERATOR IA<br />

Units: 2.0 - 24-27 hours lecture and 24-27 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite. Recommended<br />

preparation: FIRE 95 and FIRE 105). This course may<br />

be taken four times.<br />

This course provides the student with information on<br />

driver responsibilities, recognized standards, and<br />

related laws for fire apparatus. Topics include basic<br />

inspections, documentation, maintenance, and<br />

troubleshooting fire apparatus, and techniques on<br />

driving and positioning fire apparatus. Each student also<br />

has the opportunity to increase his or her driving skills<br />

during simulated driving conditions. Designed for fire<br />

service emergency response personnel.<br />

FIRE 64 APARATUS DRIVER/OPERATOR IB<br />

Units: 2.0 - 24-27 hours lecture and 24-27 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite. Recommended<br />

preparation: FIRE 95 and FIRE 105). This course may<br />

be taken four times.<br />

The course provides the student with information on<br />

pump construction and theory of pump operations.<br />

Topics include: methods for performing basic hydraulics<br />

and techniques on basic inspections, documentation,<br />

maintenance, and troubleshooting fire pumps. Each<br />

student also has the opportunity to increase his or her<br />

pumping skills during simulated pumping conditions.<br />

Designed for fire service emergency response<br />

personnel.<br />

FIRE 65 BASIC WILDLAND FIRE CONTROL<br />

Units: 2.0 - 28 hours lecture, and 16-18 hours<br />

laboratory. Offered Spring. (No prerequisite)<br />

Basic wildland hand-crew training. The course covers<br />

fire suppression organizations, fire behavior,<br />

meteorology, suppression techniques, and safety.<br />

Meets federal fire agencies requirements for employees<br />

and mutual aid cooperators.<br />
