FIRE TECHNOLOGY<br />

FIRE 59 BASIC WILDLAND FIRE FIGHTER<br />

ACADEMY<br />

Units: 3.0 - 32-36 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite. Pass/No Pass.<br />

Recommended preparation: Good attitude and<br />

willingness to work hard.)<br />

This course presents information and skill development<br />

to students seeking employment and a career with a<br />

wildland fire agency. Certificates awarded to successful<br />

graduates are applicable to all state and federal wildland<br />

fire agencies. North West Coordinating Group (NWCG)<br />

certified. California Department of Forestry (CDF)<br />

certified.<br />

FIRE 60B ADVANCED INCIDENT COMMAND<br />

SYSTEM, I-400<br />

Units: 1.0 - 32-36 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite. Pass/No Pass.<br />

Recommended preparation: Good attitude and<br />

willingness to work hard.)<br />

This course will emphasize large scale organization<br />

development, roles and relationships of the primary<br />

command staff; the planning, operational, logistical and<br />

fiscal considerations related to command of a large and<br />

complex incident. Fire Service Training and Education<br />

Program (FSTEP) certified. There is a $5.00 fee for<br />

certificate.<br />

FIRE 60C INCIDENT SAFETY OFFICER, S-401<br />

Units: 1.5 - 24-27 hours lecture. (Prerequisites: FIRE<br />

66.1, FIRE 80A, FIRE 6OE or employment within a<br />

recognized fire service agency at the rank of company<br />

officer or above. State Mandated. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course prepares the fire fighter student to work as<br />

a safety officer within the Incident Command System,<br />

with emphasis on unsafe and hazardous conditions at<br />

emergency scenes. Fire Service Training and Education<br />

Program (FSTEP) certified. There is a $5.00 fee for<br />

certificate.<br />

FIRE 60E DIVISION/GROUP SUPERVISOR, S-339<br />

Units: 1.0 - 16-18 hours lecture. (Prerequisites: FIRE<br />

60G, FIRE 66, FIRE 86. State Mandated. Pass/No<br />

Pass).<br />

This course will provide the information necessary to<br />

support the specific tasks of the Division/Group<br />

Supervisor position within the Incident Command<br />

System. North West Coordinating Group certified.<br />

FIRE 60F ICS-334 STRIKE TEAM LEADER-ENGINE<br />

Units: 1.0 - 16-18 hours lecture. (No prerequisite,<br />

Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course describes and explains the basic<br />

responsibilities of an Engine Strike Team Leader.<br />

Topics of discussion include: the strike team concept;<br />

types of strike teams; pre-incident responsibilities;<br />

assembly and travel; incident arrival; check-in;<br />

assigned/available status; out-of-service status;<br />

demobilization/release.<br />

FIRE 60G INCIDENT COMMANDER, INITIAL<br />

ATTACK, S-200<br />

Units: 1.0 - 16-18 hours lecture. (Prerequisites: FIRE<br />

66, FIRE 80. State mandated by California Fire Service<br />

Training and Education (CFSTES) and Incident<br />

Command system (ICS) by NWCG, or experience as a<br />

fire fighter working within the ICS. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course provides information and techniques to<br />

prepare the fire fighter student to command an initial<br />

attack at a wildland fire and incorporate resources<br />

effectively. North West Coordinating Group (NWCG)<br />

certified.<br />

FIRE 60H INCIDENT COMMANDER, EXTENDED<br />

ATTACK, S-300<br />

Units: 1.0 - 16-18 hours lecture. (Prerequisites: FIRE<br />

60G, FIRE 66, FIRE 86. State mandated. Pass/No<br />

Pass)<br />

This course will provide the fire fighter student the<br />

information necessary to command an incident that<br />

goes beyond the initial attack stage and incorporates<br />

additional resources. North West Coordinating Group<br />

certified.<br />

FIRE 61 RESCUE PRACTICES<br />

Units: 3.0 - 32-36 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory.<br />

Rescue practices will provide training for emergency<br />

service personnel in reaching victims injured in<br />

collisions, cave-ins, collapse, or inaccessible areas such<br />

as mountainous terrain. Course includes training in both<br />

light and heavy auto extrication and packaging victims<br />

for transport; recovery of victims of earth collapse such<br />

as trench rescue; basic repelling techniques and use of<br />

the basket stretcher.<br />

FIRE 61A MEDICAL UNIT LEADER, S-359<br />

Units: 0.5 - 8-9 hours lecture. (Prerequisites: FIRE 81<br />

and FIRE 66.1. State mandated. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course prepares the fire fighter student to work as<br />

a medical unit leader within the Incident Command<br />

System. Responsibilities, procedures and materials<br />

involved with the operation and function of the Medical<br />

Unit are discussed. North West Coordinating Group<br />

certified.<br />
