FIRE 18 CLASS A FOAM OPERATIONS<br />

Units: 1.0 - 16-18 hours lecture. This course will not<br />

apply to the Associate Degree. (Prerequisites: FIRE 80.<br />

State mandated. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course is an introduction to Class A firefighting<br />

foams used on wild land fires. Classroom principles and<br />

field application techniques are featured. CDF certified.<br />

16-18 hours lecture. This course will not apply to the<br />

Associate Degree. (Prerequisites: FIRE 80. State<br />

mandated. Pass/No Pass)<br />

FIRE 20 I-333 STRIKE TEAM LEADER, CREW<br />

Units: 1.0 -16-18 hours lecture. This course will not<br />

apply to the Associate Degree. (No prerequisite.)<br />

This course will provide the fire fighter student with the<br />

information necessary to perform as a strike team<br />

leader in charge of a hand crew at wild land fire<br />

suppression operations.<br />

FIRE 21 CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY<br />

FIRING OFFICER 2-234<br />

Units: 1.5 - 24-27 hours lecture and 16-18 hours<br />

laboratory. This course will not apply to the Associate<br />

Degree. (No prerequisite.)<br />

This course is designed to train fire fighter supervisors<br />

who have a need to know how to set a fire or backfire to<br />

accomplish fire containment and control in wildland fire<br />

suppression.<br />

FIRE 21A FIRING METHODS AND PROCEDURES<br />

Units: 1.5 - 24-27 hours lecture. This course will not<br />

apply to the Associate Degree. (Prerequisites: FIRE 66,<br />

FIRE 80A. State mandated. Grade Option)<br />

This course provides the fire fighter student with<br />

information about firing techniques and related firing<br />

devices used in wildland fire suppression. Includes<br />

basic safety instructions and procedures to follow when<br />

immediate and unplanned back firing or burning out of<br />

an area is deemed necessary for wild land fire control.<br />

CDF certified. North West Coordinating Group<br />

approved.<br />

FIRE 26 S-205, INTERFACE OPERATIONS<br />

Units: 1.0 - 12 hours lecture and 12 hours laboratory.<br />

This course will not apply to the Associate Degree. (No<br />

prerequisite. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course is designed to prepare the fire fighter<br />

student with the skills and techniques to fill the training<br />

needs for initial attack commanders and company<br />

officers confronting wildland fires that threaten life,<br />

property, and improvements within the interface areas of<br />

southern California. Topics include: size-up, initial<br />

strategy and action plan, structure triage, action plan<br />

assessment, public relations and safety.<br />

FIRE 27 S-403, INFORMATION OFFICER<br />

Units: 2.0 - 32-36 hours lecture. This course will not<br />

apply to the Associate Degree. (Prerequisite: FIRE 66<br />

and FIRE 86. State mandated. Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course is designed to prepare the fire fighter<br />

student with the skills and techniques to fill the Incident<br />

Command System (ICS) position of Information Officer.<br />

Topics include duties and responsibilities of the<br />

Information Officer, working with the media, working<br />

with the public and other agencies.<br />

FIRE 28 I-342, DOCUMENT UNIT LEADERS<br />

Units: 0.5 - 8-9 hours lecture. This course will not apply<br />

to the Associate Degree. (No prerequisite. Pass/No<br />

Pass)<br />

This course is designed to provide skills that enable the<br />

fire fighter student to perform the position of Document<br />

Unit Leader within the Incident Command System (ICS).<br />

Procedures of the Document Unit Leader, responsibilities<br />

and materials required are presented.<br />

FIRE 29 S-430, OPERATIONS SECTION CHIEF<br />

Units: 2.0 - 32-36 hours lecture. This course will not<br />

apply to the Associate Degree. (Prerequisite: I-300,<br />

S290, Certification as Strike Team Leader or Division<br />

Supervisor. State mandated. Pass/No Pass).<br />

This course is designed to prepare the fire fighter<br />

student with the skills and techniques to fill the Incident<br />

Command System (ICS) position of Operations Section<br />

Chief. Topics discussed include: information gathering,<br />

interaction with the command staff and general staff,<br />

incident action plan development, operation period<br />

briefing, daily schedule, and demobilization.<br />

FIRE 30 INSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES FOR<br />

COMPANY OFFICERS<br />

Units: 1.0 - 16-18 hours lecture. This course will not<br />

apply to the Associate Degree. (No prerequisite.)<br />

A National Fire Academy course for fire fighter students<br />

who want to improve their skills in training fire fighters<br />

and students of fire safety including the public. Applies<br />

toward National Fire Protection Association Standard<br />

1041, Professional Qualifications of Fire Service<br />

Instructors.<br />

FIRE 30A NATIONAL FIRE ACADEMY PUBLIC FIRE<br />

EDUCATION PLANNING<br />
