SINGLE SUBJECT TEACHING CREDENTIAL<br />

Students pursuing a Single Subject Teaching Credential<br />

to teach a specific subject in Grades 7-12 should follow<br />

the bachelor’s degree major requirements for that<br />

specific subject waiver program and complete the<br />

appropriate general education requirements. For<br />

example, a student who plans to teach English in high<br />

school should complete the transfer requirements for an<br />

English major or an English waiver and all general<br />

education transfer requirements for the specific<br />

EDUC 101 INTRODUCTION TO TEACHING<br />

Units: 3.0 - 48-54 hours lecture. CSU. UC. (No<br />

prerequisite)<br />

An introduction to teaching as a career and to education<br />

as a social institution. The crucial issues facing<br />

education in contemporary American society are<br />

considered in the framework of the democratic way of<br />

life. Special attention is given to issues in educational<br />

technology, as well as to the goals, curriculum, and<br />

methods of elementary education. The opportunities,<br />

challenges, and requirements of teaching as a<br />

profession are presented. This course is not designed to<br />

be a course in professional education.<br />

ETEC 51 INTRODUCTION TO EDUCATIONAL<br />

TECHNOLOGY<br />

Units: 3.0 - 48-54 hours lecture. (No prerequisite)<br />

This course examines technology from three integrated<br />

perspectives: technology as a tool, a medium, and a<br />

setting for learning. Students will extensively use<br />

Internet tools as they survey a variety of strategies for<br />

integrating technology into the classroom. The course<br />

will also instruct students on the basic methods and<br />

strategies for creating Web-based learning activities.<br />

Students will have the opportunity to create projects<br />

relevant to their educational setting.<br />

ETEC 70 LEADERSHIP IN EDUCATIONAL<br />

TECHNOLOGY<br />

Units: 3.0 - 48-54 hours lecture. (No prerequisite)<br />

This course defines and details constructivist<br />

leadership, framing that leadership in terms of<br />

educational technology. Students will apply these<br />

concepts to their own settings through introductory<br />

understandings of knowledge management and virtual<br />

learning. Students will have the opportunity to formulate<br />

technology rollout and training plans specific to their<br />

educational organizations or fields.<br />

ETEC 90 EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY<br />

INTERNSHIP<br />

Units: 2.0 - 16-18 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite, Pass/No Pass)<br />

This course provides students with valuable experience<br />

in educational settings by partnering them with teachers<br />

or other professional educators to assess needs,<br />

collaborate on possible solutions, support implementations,<br />

and evaluate outcomes. Students will<br />

also benefit from working within a community of practice<br />

during their internships.<br />

ETEC 106 INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER<br />

TECHNOLOGY FOR EDUCATORS<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU (No prerequisite)<br />

A survey course which provides an overview of<br />

computer technology for multi-disciplinary majors, but<br />

with emphasis on its role in educational settings. The<br />

course provides instruction in a variety of topics<br />

supported by hands-on laboratory work with operating<br />
