CIS 137 INTRODUCTION TO HTML<br />

Units: 2.0 - 24-27 hours lecture and 24-27 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU. (No prerequisite.)<br />

This course is designed for the student or business<br />

person who wants to acquire the skills needed to create<br />

a presence on the WWW (World Wide Web ) in the form<br />

of a Web Page. The student will become conversant<br />

with HTML (Hypertext Mark-up Language) and able to<br />

use HTML for Web Authoring (designing, implementing,<br />

and maintaining). Several tools will be explored, such as<br />

but not limited to, text editors, WYSIWYG (what you see<br />

is what you get) editors, and tag editors.<br />

CIS 139 WINDOWS FOR POWER USERS<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU. (No prerequisite. Recommended<br />

preparation: CIS 101.)<br />

Students will gain experience in installing, navigating,<br />

configuring, optimizing, troubleshooting, and<br />

customizing the current version of Windows. Additional<br />

subject which will be covered include networking, disk<br />

management, diagnostics and using the Internet.<br />

CIS 201 C++MODULE A<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU, UC. (No Prerequisite. CIS 101<br />

recommended)<br />

An introduction to programming using the C++<br />

language. This course is appropriate for those wishing<br />

to learn the principles of computer programming and to<br />

gain some initial experience with C++.<br />

CIS 202 C++MODULE B<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU, UC. (Prerequisites: CIS 201 with a<br />

minimum grade of “C”)<br />

The second in the C++ series, this course teaches the<br />

student who is familiar with the language how to use its<br />

object-oriented features in depth. Subject matter<br />

includes: designing and implementing classes, abstract<br />

data types, overloading operators, inheritance, and<br />

polymorphism.<br />

CIS 205 JAVASCRIPT<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU (No prerequisite)<br />

JavaScript is the only wide-spread programming<br />

language for web pages on virtually all browsers. By<br />

incorporation JavaScript into HTML documents, web<br />

page contents become dynamic, personalized and<br />

interactive. Even with server-side technology, such as<br />

ASP.NET and PHP, JavaScript is still a must since<br />

many features such as mouseover, etc., are not<br />

supported by any server-side programming. This course<br />

teaches students how to program using JavaScript from<br />

the beginning; it also prepares students for more<br />

advanced web development courses including<br />

ASP.NET and PHP.<br />

CIS 206A PROGRAMMING JAVA MODULE A<br />

Units: 2.0 - 24-27 hours lecture and 24-27 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU. (No prerequisite)<br />

This is an introductory course for programming in Java.<br />

The course will cover the basics of the Java<br />

programming language and object oriented<br />

programming method. Some of the more advanced<br />

topics such as applets programming data structure<br />

implementation in Java will also be covered.<br />

CIS 206B JAVA PROGRAMMING B<br />

Units: 2.0 - 24-27 hours lecture and 24-27 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU. (Prerequisite: CIS 206A with a<br />

minimum grade of “C”, Grade Option)<br />

This is a second course in Java programming. The<br />

course will review the basics of the Java language and<br />

object oriented programming. The main topics of the<br />

course include Java applet programming and<br />

networking with Java.<br />

CIS 210 PROGRAMMING IN VISUAL BASIC<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU. (No prerequisite.)<br />

Visual Basic is the world’s most popular programming<br />

language used for application development. This course<br />

is based on the latest VB.NET. VB is an object-oriented<br />

programming language suitable not only for Windows<br />

applications, but also for Web applications. While<br />

retaining its advantages in ease of learning, efficiency at<br />

developing sophisticated applications, VB.NET has now<br />

added an array of powerful features such as Web forms,<br />

mobile controls, support for XML, full compatibility with<br />

other languages (such as C#, Visual C++, Cobol, NET),<br />

etc. Students will learn all the programming basics using<br />

VB.NET, as well as being exposed to topics such as<br />

Object-Oriented programming, Database programming,<br />

and Web programming.<br />
