COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS<br />
application experts, modeling enterprises, preparing<br />
documentation, and designing programs and databases.<br />
This course is a prerequisite to all object-oriented<br />
programming language courses for it provides a<br />
requisite baseline working knowledge of unique objectoriented<br />
concepts and structure such as classes,<br />
objects and methods, encapsulation, inheritance,<br />
polymorphism and message abstraction, and static<br />
virtual methods.<br />
CIS 105 INTRODUCTION TO SYSTEMS ANALYSIS<br />
Units: 3.0 - 48-54 hours lecture. CSU. Offered Spring.<br />
(No prerequisite)<br />
Introduces the three major skills required to perform<br />
effectively as a beginner in a systems analysis<br />
environment. Defines the specific steps in the<br />
determination of new systems’ requirements, system<br />
design, and the creative process used to select and<br />
make recommendations as to one or more solutions to<br />
system development.<br />
CIS 106 INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER<br />
TECHNOLOGY FOR EDUCATORS<br />
Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. CSU (No prerequisite)<br />
A survey course which provides an overview of<br />
computer technology for multi-disciplinary majors, but<br />
with emphasis on its role in educational settings. The<br />
course provides instruction in a variety of topics<br />
supported by hands-on laboratory work with operating<br />
systems, word processing, spreadsheets, databases,<br />
desktop publishing, programming, networks, and the<br />
Internet. Application and evaluation of computer<br />
technology in learning environments serves as the<br />

CIS 107 INTRODUCTION TO THE INTERNET FOR<br />
EDUCATORS<br />
Units: 2.0 - 24-27 hours lecture and 24-27 hours<br />
laboratory. CSU (No prerequisite)<br />
A course for education students or current teachers to<br />
acquire the skills needed to effectively utilize the<br />
Internet in the classroom. Emphasis will be placed on<br />
computer-mediated communication with the World Wide<br />
Web. Students will become well versed in the use of<br />
Web browsers, FTP, newsgroups/asynchronous<br />
discussion, e-mail, and chat/synchronous discussion.<br />

CIS 108 ASSEMBLY LANGUAGE PROGRAMMING<br />
Units: 2.0 - 16-18 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. CSU, UC. (No prerequisite)<br />
Designed to train students to prepare and write the<br />
basic assembly language programs for microcomputer<br />
systems in both business and scientific applications.<br />
CIS 111 MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATIONS<br />
Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. CSU. (No prerequisite)<br />
Students gain experience in developing multimedia<br />
presentations while gaining an understanding of<br />
multimedia technologies. In acquiring “hands-on”<br />
experience in producing and presenting multimedia<br />
presentations, the student will also actively create audio<br />
files, full-motion, video clips, graphics, animation<br />
sequences, and the text used in the final production.<br />
Additional subjects which will be covered include the<br />
basic principles for effective communications, scripting,<br />
logical control of peripheral devices, and runtime<br />
packaging.<br />
CIS 120 INTRODUCTION TO MACROMEDIA<br />
DREAMWEAVER<br />
Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. (No prerequisite. Grade Option)<br />
This course teaches students how to use the webauthoring<br />
tool Dreamweaver. Covered topics include<br />
Dreamweaver basics, website set-up, animation, multimedia,<br />
and more.<br />
CIS 121 INTRODUCTION TO FLASH<br />
Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. (No prerequisite. Grade Option)<br />
Flash is an advanced tool for creating graphics,<br />
animation, multimedia components that can be<br />
incorporated into other software applications such as<br />
web pages, or can function on their own. This is a<br />
beginning course on Flash. It teaches students the<br />
Flash basics, graphics, texts, layers, symbols, frames,<br />
animations, tweens, interactivity, action scripts, etc.<br />
CIS 124 FUNDAMENTALS OF DATA<br />
COMMUNICATIONS<br />
Units: 2.0 - 32-36 hours lecture. CSU. (No prerequisite)<br />
This course presents the general computer user with a<br />
basic understanding of data communications with added<br />
emphasis on telecommunications. The course includes<br />
analog and digital transmission concepts, networks,<br />
protocols, operating systems, local area networks<br />
(LANs), network architectures, network topologies,<br />
security, error detection and correction codes.<br />
CIS 136 INTRODUCTION TO THE INTERNET<br />
Units: 2.0 - 24-27 hours lecture and 24-27 hours<br />
laboratory. CSU. (No prerequisite)<br />
This course of instruction is designed for the student or<br />
savvy business person who wants to acquire the skills<br />
needed to effectively interact and utilize the resources of<br />
the Internet and its newer component, the World Wide<br />
Web (WWW). By completing this course, a student will<br />
