Introduction to Windows operating system and features<br />

through extensive hands-on exercises.<br />

BET 141A OPERATING SYSTEMS: WINDOWS A<br />

Units: 1.0 - 16-18 hours lecture or 32-36 hours<br />

individualized instruction. CSU. (No prerequisite) This<br />

course may be taken four times.<br />

This first unit is an introduction to Windows, a Graphical<br />

User Interface environment. Extensive hands-on<br />

practice at individual workstations will provide students<br />

with the fundamental commands and features of<br />

Windows.<br />

BET 141B OPERATING SYSTEM: WINDOWS B<br />

Units: 1.0 – 16-18 hours lecture, or 32-36 hours<br />

individualized instruction. CSU. (No prerequisite). This<br />

course may be taken four times.<br />

This second unit covers more extensive hands-on<br />

practice with additional Windows commands and use of<br />

icons using the current version of Microsoft Windows.<br />

BET 141C OPERATING SYSTEM: WINDOWS C<br />

Units: 1.0 – 16-18 hours lecture or 32-36 hours<br />

individualized instruction. CSU. (No prerequisite). This<br />

course may be taken four times.<br />

This third unit includes features using program manager<br />

and Windows interface using the most current version of<br />

Microsoft Windows.<br />

BET 142 OFFICE TECHNOLOGIES AND<br />

PROCEDURES<br />

Units: 3.0 - 48-54 hours lecture. CSU. (No prerequisite.<br />

Grade Option)<br />

Students will learn practical application of current<br />

automated office procedures, duties, and human<br />

relations. Specific topics include telephone, electronic<br />

mail, Internet activities, data entry, reference resources,<br />

job seeking, mail and shipping services and procedures,<br />

office relations, office etiquette and dress, time<br />

management, travel arrangements, meetings, minutes,<br />

and office equipment. Development of critical thinking<br />

skills and decision-making skills throughout the course.<br />

BET 145 COMMUNICATIONS FOR BUSINESS<br />

Units: 3.0 - 48-54 hours lecture. CSU. (No prerequisite)<br />

This is a course designed for Business Education<br />

Technologies to create proficiency in the mechanics of<br />

writing, reading, and critically analyzing various types of<br />

business correspondence. This course includes a<br />

review of grammar, reading, proofreading and editing;<br />

and analysis of writing styles in business<br />

correspondence and report format. Principles of<br />

communication psychology as it applies to human<br />

relations will be reviewed in solving business<br />

communications problems.<br />

BESC 141 ESCROW I, PRINCIPLES (BASIC)<br />

Units: 3.0 - 48-54 hours lecture. CSU. (No prerequisite)<br />

Methods and techniques of escrow procedures for<br />

various types of business transactions with emphasis on<br />

real estate, including the legal and ethical responsibilities<br />

for persons engaged in escrow work. Elective for<br />

the Real Estate Broker’s license. Meets the 18-month,<br />

post licensing, educational requirements for the<br />

California Real Estate Salesman’s license.<br />

BESC 142 ESCROW II, PRINCIPLES (ADVANCED)<br />

Units: 3.0 - 48-54 hours lecture. CSU. (No prerequisite)<br />

Covers the more unusual and difficult types of escrows<br />

with an evaluation of the possible solutions. Emphasis is<br />

on real estate with some personal property and bulk<br />

sales covered. Elective for the Real Estate Broker’s<br />

license. Meets the 18-month, post licensing, educational<br />

requirements for the California Real Estate Salesman’s<br />

license.<br />

BUSINESS ESCROW<br />

BET 143 BUSINESS ENGLISH<br />

Units: 3.0 - 48-54 hours lecture. CSU (No prerequisite.<br />

Grade Option)<br />

This is a technical course to develop a proficiency in<br />

written business communication. A comprehensive<br />

review of proofreading, grammar, punctuation, sentence<br />

structure, and letter and memo formats emphasizing<br />

the function of business English in various types of<br />

business communications.<br />
