AUTO 86.1 IMPORT SPORT TUNING ENGINE<br />
PERFORMANCE<br />
Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />
This course provides the student with the knowledge to<br />
properly install aftermarket engine performance parts<br />
while staying in the confines of applicable state and<br />
federal laws. Topics discussed will include forced air<br />
induction, exhaust systems, computerized fuel and<br />
ignition system modifications.<br />
AUTO 86.2 IMPORT SUSPENSION SPORT TUNING<br />
Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />
This course provides the student with the knowledge to<br />
install aftermarket lowering kits, suspension<br />
enhancements and alignment procedures for modified<br />
suspension systems. Information covered will include<br />
suspension geometry, accepted procedures for lowering<br />
vehicles, shock absorber choices, tire choices for sport<br />
tuned vehicles, and maintenance of modified<br />
suspensions.<br />
AUTO 86.3 EXTREME ON AND OFF ROAD<br />
SUSPENSION<br />
Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />
This course provides the student with the knowledge to<br />
install aftermarket lift kits, prerunner aftermarket<br />
fenders, modify gear ratios, and alignment procedures<br />
for modified suspension systems. Information covered<br />
will include suspension geometry, lift kit installation,<br />
vehicle raising procedures, prerunner aftermarket<br />
accessories, tire choices for modified vehicles, and<br />
maintenance of modified (raised) suspensions.<br />
AUTO 86.4 AFTERMARKET ELECTRICAL<br />
ACCESSORIES<br />
Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />
This course provides the student with the knowledge to<br />
install aftermarket electrical accessories. Information<br />
covered will include electrical theory, installation of<br />
stereos, amplifiers, sub-woofers, and aftermarket lights.<br />
AUTO 86.5 IMPORT BODY CUSTOMIZING<br />
Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />
This course provides the student with the knowledge<br />
and skills necessary to customize and install aftermarket<br />
body parts. Course covers installation and customization<br />
of metal, fiberglass and high carbon fiber body<br />
parts, wings, spoilers, ground effects, and door direction<br />
reversing. This course also covers shaving door handles<br />
and installing remote control door release solenoids.<br />
AUTO 86.6 AMERICAN IRON HOT RODS<br />
Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />
This course provides the student with the knowledge to<br />
properly modify classic domestic vehicles. Topics<br />
covered will include engine performance enhancement<br />
and suspension modification.<br />
AUTO 89.1 INTRODUCTION TO HYBRID VEHICLE<br />
TECHNOLOGY<br />
Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />
This course introduces hybrid vehicle technology.<br />
Topics covered will include electrical basics, batteries,<br />
types of hybrid vehicles, and preventive maintenance<br />
procedures.<br />
AUTO 89.2 HYBRID VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND<br />
SERVICE<br />
Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />
laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />
This course addresses hybrid vehicle maintenance and<br />
service procedures. Topics covered will include safety,<br />
manufacture specific hybrids, diagnostic and repair<br />
procedures as they relate to hybrid vehicles.<br />
AUTO 91A AUTO BODY REPAIR I<br />
Units: 4.0 - 32-36 hours lecture and 96-108 hours<br />
laboratory. (No prerequisite) This course may be taken<br />
four times.<br />
Basic auto body repair and refinishing techniques to<br />
prepare students with entry level skills used by the<br />
automotive industry.<br />
AUTO 91B AUTO BODY REPAIR II<br />
Units: 4.0 - 32-36 hours lecture and 96-108 hours<br />
laboratory. (No prerequisite.) This course may be taken<br />
four times.<br />
This course is designed for the student who has<br />
received instruction in basic auto body repair. Topics<br />
covered will include structural repair, automotive<br />
refinishing, and damage analysis. The course will focus<br />
on developing auto body skills in a hands-on<br />
environment with emphasis on improving speed and<br />
workmanship.<br />
