AUTOMOTIVE<br />

AUTO 63A ADVANCED DIESEL ENGINE REPAIR<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. (Prerequisite: AUTO 63.0)<br />

This course covers the techniques used by heavy duty<br />

truck industries to diagnose and repair compression<br />

pressure combustion designed, four stroke and two<br />

stroke diesel fueled engines. Instruction will cover diesel<br />

engine design and operation, diesel fuel systems, air<br />

induction systems, heavy duty electrical, and<br />

introduction to electronic fuel control with emphasis on<br />

engine overhaul.<br />

AUTO 63.5 INTRODUCTION TO DIESEL<br />

TECHNOLOGY<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />

This course provides the student with a basic<br />

knowledge of diesel systems and components.<br />

Information covered will serve as a foundation and<br />

prerequisite for advanced diesel classes. Topics<br />

covered will include safety, tool and shop equipment<br />

uses, industry practices, technician certification, theory<br />

and design of the major diesel systems.<br />

AUTO 64.0 MEDIUM/HEAVY DUTY TRUCK<br />

SUSPENSION AND STEERING<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />

This course will provide students with the knowledge<br />

and techniques used by the trucking industry to<br />

diagnose, adjust, and repair medium/heavy duty truck<br />

suspension and steering systems. Instruction will cover<br />

theory, inspection, maintenance, and repair of<br />

suspension and steering systems.<br />

AUTO 65.0 HEAVY DUTY DIESEL TRUCK<br />

LUBRICATION AND INSPECTION TECHNICIAN<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />

This course covers the techniques used by the trucking<br />

industry to perform routine preventative maintenance on<br />

heavy duty diesel trucks. Instruction will cover changing<br />

fluids, lubrication, safety inspections, and installing<br />

filters.<br />

AUTO 65.2 FUNDAMENTALS OF HEAVY DUTY<br />

TRUCK AND OFF HIGHWAY EQUIPMENT<br />

HYDRAULICS<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite. Grade Option)<br />

Topics covered include introduction to hydraulic<br />

systems components and theory of operation, entry<br />

level skills to disassemble, inspect, reassemble and test<br />

hydraulic components and understand the relationship<br />

between component failure and system operation.<br />

AUTO 65.3 ADVANCED HEAVY DUTY TRUCK AND<br />

OFF HIGHWAY EQUIPMENT HYDRAULICS<br />

Units: 6.0 - 64-72 hours lecture and 96-108 hours<br />

laboratory. (Prerequisite: AUTO 65.2. Grade Option)<br />

This course covers advanced hydraulic systems<br />

components and theory of operation, entry level skills to<br />

disassemble, inspect, reassemble and test hydraulic<br />

components and understand the relationship between<br />

component failure and system operation, hydrostatic<br />

motors, pumps, valves, and inspection and repair.<br />

AUTO 65.4 SERVICE AND REPAIR MOBILE<br />

HYDRAULICS<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite. Grade Option)<br />

This course covers inspection and repair of mobile<br />

hydraulic systems, theory of operation, entry level skills<br />

to disassemble, inspect, reassemble and test mobile<br />

hydraulic components, and the relationship between<br />

component failure and system operating hydrostatic<br />

motors, pumps, and valves.<br />

EQUIPMENT SYSTEMS REPAIR<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />

Introduction to services and repair of off road dirt<br />

moving heavy equipment and agricultural equipment.<br />

Designed to meet the needs of off road heavy<br />

equipment technicians.<br />

Advance service and repair of off road dirt moving<br />

heavy equipment and agricultural equipment. Designed<br />

to meet the needs of off road heavy equipment<br />

technicians.<br />

AUTO 65.9 FORKLIFT PREVENTATIVE<br />

MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. (No prerequisite)<br />

This course covers techniques used by the warehousing<br />

industry to perform routine preventative maintenance<br />

and repairs on forklifts. Instruction will cover changing<br />

fluids, lubrication, preventive maintenance safety<br />

inspections.<br />
