ART 123 LIFE DRAWING II<br />

Units: 3.0 - 32-36 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU, UC. (No prerequisite. Recommended<br />

preparation: ART 125 or ART 126, or ART 122.) This<br />

course may be taken two times.<br />

An intermediate life drawing course emphasizing the<br />

continued study and analysis of the human form using<br />

drawing of the human figure from life.<br />

ART 124 ANATOMY FOR LIFE DRAWING<br />

Units: 3.0 - 32-36 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU, UC. (No prerequisite) This course may<br />

be taken four times.<br />

Critical dissection of anatomical and physiological<br />

studies incorporated into the fine art of life drawing.<br />

Repetition of this course provides skill development.<br />

ART 125 DRAWING I<br />

Units: 3.0 - 32-36 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU, UC. (No prerequisite. Grade option).<br />

This course may be taken four times.<br />

This course is an introduction to principles and<br />

techniques in drawing. Students will gain a working<br />

knowledge of line, shape, perspective, proportion,<br />

volume, and composition. Students will learn how to<br />

look at, evaluate and present art work as well as be<br />

introduced to traditional and contemporary drawing with<br />

an emphasis on the development of observational skills<br />

and creative thinking.<br />

ART 126 DRAWING II<br />

Units: 3.0 - 32-36 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU, UC. (No prerequisite. Recommended<br />

preparation: ART 125.) This course may be taken two<br />

times.<br />

An intermediate drawing course emphasizing<br />

development of skills learned in Drawing I with an<br />

emphasis on personal expression, thematic<br />

development and the use of color. A variety of drawing<br />

media will be explored.<br />

ART 128 SPECIAL TOPICS<br />

See Special Topics listing (Variable units). CSU, UC<br />

This course will present the elements and principles of<br />

advertising design and illustration.<br />

ART 133 DIGITAL IMAGING<br />

Units: 3.0 - 32-36 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU, UC. (No prerequisite. Recommended<br />

preparation: ART 112 or ART 113.)<br />

An introductory course that explores a fine arts<br />

approach to computer generated imaging using Adobe<br />

Photoshop.<br />

ART 134 THE ART OF WEB DESIGN<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU,UC. (No prerequisite)<br />

An overview of industry standard software used for<br />

creating web pages. This course does not focus on<br />

HTML or scripting language but is focused on the<br />

development of effective communications design.<br />

ART 135 INTRODUCTION TO TIME BASED<br />

ART/COMMUNICATION<br />

Units: 4.0 - 48-54 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU, UC. (No prerequisite)<br />

This course covers the fundamental elements of<br />

creating and editing video using computer technology.<br />

Student will be taught how to use computer software to<br />

create dynamic visual content as it relates to artistic<br />

expression.<br />

ART 136 PRINTMAKING<br />

Units: 3.0 - 32-36 hours lecture and 48-54 hours<br />

laboratory. CSU. (No prerequisite. Recommended<br />

preparation: ART 125 or courses in drawing.)<br />

This is an introductory course in the principles,<br />

techniques, practice and historical development of<br />

printmaking. Students will be exposed to the practice of<br />

printmaking as an original art form. Students will gain a<br />

working knowledge of relief printmaking techniques,<br />

including Woodcut, Linocut, Intaglio printmaking<br />

(drypoint), Collagraph and Monotype printing. Students<br />

will learn how to observe, create, present and evaluate<br />

prints in a critical manner.<br />
