ear Parents,<br />
I am writing this article while I<br />
am at home enjoying the winter<br />
break. I hope that during this time, you are<br />
able to relax and enjoy many wonderful<br />
hours of family time. I know that I enjoyed<br />
the snow, even though I hate shoveling it! I<br />
hope that you were able to find time to recuperate,<br />
and create new memories with<br />
your family over the holiday season.<br />
In January, we will begin our After-School<br />
Clubs. I am so excited, as this year the <strong>PTA</strong><br />
asked me to lead my own After-School Club.<br />
Of course, I will be teaching the Irish Dance<br />
… remember to re-emphasize homework with your children.<br />
Club! This month the <strong>PTA</strong> will also be bringing<br />
back the annual Bingo Nights. I hope<br />
everyone gets the chance to yell “Bingo”.<br />
We will also be continuing to add more<br />
hours of reading time with our “Make Time<br />
To Read” program, and to progress with<br />
memorizing our basic math facts. This will<br />
certainly be a busy and fun month!<br />
Now that we are returning to school after<br />
a break, it is the perfect time to reemphasize<br />
homework with your children.<br />
Homework is their “job”. Please make sure<br />
they do it. Homework is critical to helping<br />
children develop independent learning skills<br />
and discipline, as well as supplementing<br />
Ice Skating Party<br />
lease join us for <strong>Paxtonia</strong>’s Ice Skating Party on Sunday, January 6th.<br />
P <strong>The</strong> Ice Skating Party will be held at Twin Ponds East from 4:15 – 5:45<br />
pm. <strong>The</strong>re will be a $1.00 admission fee for skaters. You are welcome to<br />
bring your own ice skates and skate rental will be available for $2. For information about directions<br />
call 558-7663.<br />

can make homework time more beneficial<br />
by establishing a homework schedule and by<br />
establishing a homework area at home.<br />
Parents should also take an active role in<br />
discussing and assisting their children in<br />
their assignments and talking with their<br />
child’s teacher about their expectations and<br />
goals. Remember that students have a Student<br />
Resource Book (SRB) that parents can<br />
refer to for assistance with math homework.<br />

hope you all had a wonderful holiday<br />
I and I wish you a Happy 2013!<br />
Welcome back to school.<br />
Although we’ve turned the corner and<br />
are quickly heading toward the last half<br />
of the school year – there is no rest for<br />
the weary! <strong>The</strong> teachers and <strong>PTA</strong> still<br />
have many educational and fun activities<br />
scheduled for our children: International<br />
Days welcomes the sights, sounds<br />
and tastes of France from April 17-19;<br />
After School Clubs will have kids exploring<br />
new and interesting subjects and<br />
activities; move over America’s Got Talent-<br />
<strong>Paxtonia</strong>’s Talent Show will knock<br />
your socks off; our Bingo Nights always<br />
hold a lot of fun for families; and we<br />
can’t forget all the festivities that will<br />
soon go along with our May Fair and<br />
graduating 5 th grade class.<br />
<strong>The</strong>re are many committees to be part<br />
of and volunteer for in the next several<br />
months. Our website has a list of committee<br />
chairmen. If you haven’t had a<br />
chance to volunteer and would like to<br />
help, please contact a committee chairman<br />
or one of our Board members.<br />
Before the festivities begin in 2013, I’d<br />
like to congratulate the winners of our<br />
Next <strong>PTA</strong> Meeting Monday, January 7th<br />
Reflections Program who were recognized<br />
at a program on December 6 and<br />
thank members of the Santa’s Workshop<br />
Committee and the many volunteers<br />
that made that event a success.<br />
Congratulations to our music staff and<br />
all the students who participated in chorus,<br />
band and/or orchestra – the Winter<br />
Concert was a great beginning to the<br />
holiday season. I’d also like to thank<br />
Cathy Agostino for the seamless organizing<br />
of Santa’s visit to all the classrooms.<br />
If you haven’t had an opportunity to<br />
attend a <strong>PTA</strong> meeting, I hope you make<br />
this one of your New Year’s Resolutions.<br />
Our next meeting is Monday, January<br />
7 th at 7 p.m.<br />
Mustangs Making a Difference<br />
ur Children at <strong>Paxtonia</strong> helped to<br />
O brighten up some faces during the<br />
Holiday season by donating items that<br />
were needed for the "Sandy victims"<br />
through "Mission Central".<br />
<strong>The</strong>y were all so very grateful and<br />
blessed for the giving hearts of our <strong>Paxtonia</strong><br />
children.<br />
Race for Education Prizes<br />
e hope everyone had a wonderful<br />
holiday break. All of our RFE<br />
W<br />
prizes are in and will be handed out to<br />
the students during the first week of<br />
January. We will also be drawing names<br />
for a family four pack of Harrisburg Senators<br />
tickets, a family four pack for<br />
Meadow's Mini-Golf, and two Toys R' Us<br />
gift cards. Everyone who was kind<br />
enough to donate postage stamps or<br />
money for postage stamps will be entered<br />
into a drawing for Red Lobster gift<br />
cards. <strong>The</strong> student in each grade level<br />
who brought in the most labels by September<br />
17th will be treated to a pizza<br />

P the Red Carpet, in honoring the multitude<br />
of Artists participating in the <strong>PTA</strong><br />
Reflections Award Ceremonies. It was the<br />
Grammies, Oscars, and Tony awards all in<br />
one. <strong>The</strong> Gala was preceded by a wonderful<br />
and exciting slide show of the Artist's<br />
Works, accompanied by two renditions of<br />

magnificent, exemplifying the Reflections<br />
