Using the iastool command-line tools<br />

ping<br />

Use this tool to verify the current state of a hub or a managed object. The ping<br />

command will return nothing for a hub that is not running.<br />

Syntax<br />

-ping [-mgmtport ]<br />

[-realm ] [-user ] [-pwd ] [-file ]<br />

or<br />

-ping -cfg <br />

-mo -moagent [-mgmtport ]<br />

[-realm ] [-user ] [-pwd ] [-file ]<br />

Default Output<br />

The default output shows the name and status of the hub (and optionally the managed<br />

object) if the process is pinged and running. For example:<br />

Pinging Hub xyz_corp1: Running<br />

The ping tool returns one of the following states:<br />

Description<br />

Specifies the hub to ping or whose services to ping. There<br />

is no default.<br />

Specifies the host name and the listener port of the<br />

machine on which the hub or managed object you are<br />

interested in is running. The option is enables the iastool<br />

utility to locate a managed object on a different subnet<br />

than the machine on which iastool is running.<br />

Specifies the name of the configuration on which to ping<br />

for managed objects.<br />

Specifies the name of the managed object.<br />

Specifies the managed object agent name. Use this option<br />

if the specified hub has more than one agent.<br />

Specifies the management port number used by the<br />

specified hub. The default is 42424.<br />

Specifies the realm used to authenticate a user when the<br />

user and password options are specified.<br />

Specifies the user to authenticate against the specified<br />

realm.<br />
