Make Music Chicago
Make Music Chicago is a live, oneday
music festival on the first day of
summer that celebrates the ability of
everyone to make music. On June
21, people of all ages, music of all
genres, amateurs, professionals, and
marquee artists will gather throughout
the day in Chicago area public spaces
to engage in spontaneous music
making. WFMT will bring you this
day of exciting and diverse music
starting on Thurday morning and
continuing through 9:00 pm. With
stops from Evanston to Michigan
Avenue to Hyde Park, WFMT will
feature classical music, folk, jazz,
and beyond...played by performers
from around the city and around
the world. Between more traditional
concert venues, our roving reporters
will be checking in throughout the
day for whatever surprises arise
during this day of eclectic, impromptu
music-making. And be sure to tune
in for the grand finale from St. James
Cathedral from 6:00 to 9:00 pm for
singers from the Ryan Opera Center,
3rd Coast Percussion, the 5th House
Ensemble and the grand finale
“Sweet Home Chicago” singalong.
