Our Value Proposition
ISS Uganda offers a range of services, from liner and cargo services, including a door-to-door sea and air
freight service, to Customs clearance, cargo consolidation, warehousing and distribution, and rail and road
transport to and from Mombasa, Uganda’s gateway port. As a landlocked country, Uganda depends on the
ports of Mombasa in Kenya and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. Our Entebbe Airport branch office at handles
air shipments, including Customs clearance and delivery to clients. Our Malaba branch office is mainly
involved in the border clearance of road shipments of containers, vehicles and project cargo.

9 ISS Uganda is licensed by the Uganda Revenue
Authority (URA) for the provision of Customs
clearance. We work closely with the URA to provide
a high-quality service to our customers.

to duty and tax structures. We also assist new clients
with enquiries about setting up business in Uganda.

9 As well as the border clearance of road shipments of
containers, vehicles and project cargo, we offer
transport services within East Africa – i.e. Nairobi to
Kampala, Kampala to Kigali and vice versa.

FAQ Uganda
9 Can ISS Uganda assist with information on
importation procedures, duties and taxes?
Recognised by the Uganda Revenue Authority as a
licensed Customs agent, ISS Uganda will guide you
on Customs duty and tax rates and apply on your
behalf for any special permission required for imports.
We can also provide a door-to-door service for sea
freight and/or air freight shipments, all the way to your warehouse – subject to clients having completed all the
legal formalities and requirements to set up a registered company in Uganda.
9 How do we arrange temporary import of machinery into Uganda, re-exporting the machinery back
to the country of origin after completion of the project?
ISS has Customs bonds in place for temporary importation, enabling us to assist you with all Customs
formalities for the import and re-export of the cargo. Our strong relationships with shipping lines and airlines
allow us to obtain the most competitive quote for the movement of your cargo.
9 What is the normal time for clearance of sea freight and/or air freight shipments upon arrival at
Kampala Inland Container Depot and/or Entebbe Airport?
Provided all the documentation is in good order, it takes about three working days to clear a sea or air
shipment after arrival at Kampala ICD or at Entebbe Airport.
9 From the arrival of a container at Mombasa, how many days would it take for clearance and delivery
to Kampala ICD?
Kampala is 1,250 kms from Mombasa sea port. Provided all the documentation is in order and lodged with
us at least five days before the vessel’s arrival, it should take roughly 10 to 14 days from vessel arrival to
container arrival at Kampala.
9 What other services does ISS Uganda provide?
ISS Uganda offers a wide range of services, including door-to-door air freight, sea freight, sea and air exports,
Customs clearance and delivery services, transport of containers and vehicles by road ex Mombasa, and
inter-Africa transport services to and from Nairobi/Kigali and Juba in southern Sudan. We have contracted
warehouse space in Kampala; we can assist with all your warehousing needs, including local delivery.
Our target is to offer our clients the full range of logistics services under one roof.
9 We have various suppliers in Dubai/UK and China, from where we would like ISS to consolidate the
shipments and ship by air. Can ISS assist?
Through our global network of ISS colleagues and high-quality third party agents in various countries, we
offer consolidation of air and sea shipments in locations such as UK, Dubai, South Africa, China, Malaysia
and Singapore.
9 We have air shipments coming from various origins for final destinations such as Juba (south Sudan),
Kigali (Rwanda) and Burundi but due to lack of frequent direct flights to these destinations means
we are unable to lift the required volumes. How can ISS assist?
ISS in Uganda will use Entebbe Airport as the distribution hub and receive shipments at Entebbe for further
transhipment. We can arrange for regular connections to all the above locations, including documentation
and warehousing.
9 We are planning to import oversized boilers and machinery via Mombasa for Uganda.
Does ISS offer transport services for these kinds of shipments?
Yes, we have experience and expertise in clearing and transport services for project shipments into Uganda from
Mombasa, using subcontracted transporters operating low bed trailers. We will take care of all aspects, including
discharge of cargo and obtaining permits and necessary clearances, for efficient movement of the cargo.
