b. Inside the warehouse where the compost is cured, the material is placed in<br />

windrows. The warehouse protects the compost from the outside<br />

envir<strong>on</strong>mental c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s. The windrows have a maximum height of 3.5 m. The<br />

residence time is 1 m<strong>on</strong>th. 15% of the compost is cured in this installati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Following the curing stage, the loaders feed the packaging unit, in order to<br />

package the end compost. (Morocomp.,2010)<br />

Packaging Unit<br />

The packaging unit c<strong>on</strong>sists of the following:<br />

a. Smoothening sub-unit for ameliorating the texture of the end product<br />

b. Sub-unit for placing the end compost inside bags <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> for sealing these bags<br />

c. Sub-unit of palletizing the packaged end compost<br />

Wastewater Treatment Unit<br />

The <strong>waste</strong>water that is treated in this unit is generated from:<br />

a. The recepti<strong>on</strong> unit for the trucks<br />

b. The unit of mechanical separati<strong>on</strong><br />

c. The composting unit (leachate collected from the floor of the composting<br />

tunnel)<br />

d. Wastewater from all the sanitati<strong>on</strong> areas of the factory<br />

A two-stage aerobic biological process takes place for the treatment of<br />

<strong>waste</strong>water. The final effluent is used for irrigating the grass facilities of the<br />

installati<strong>on</strong><br />

Unit for Treatment of Air Emissi<strong>on</strong>s from the Mechanical Separati<strong>on</strong> Unit<br />

This unit treats the air emissi<strong>on</strong>s resulting for the Unit of Mechanical<br />

Separati<strong>on</strong>. The treatment unit c<strong>on</strong>sists of three (3) biofilters for treating air<br />

exhausts from the unit of mechanical separati<strong>on</strong>. Each biofilter corresp<strong>on</strong>ds to<br />

<strong>on</strong>e reservoir of the unit of <strong>waste</strong> recepti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> to <strong>on</strong>e line of mechanical<br />

separati<strong>on</strong>. Biofilters are made up of end compost.
