Cardboard <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> card are collected <strong>on</strong> a fortnightly basis from the<br />

kerbside. The collecti<strong>on</strong>s are made <strong>on</strong> the GREEN WEEK collecti<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Finally Household rubbish is collected from the kerbside in a black bag.<br />

The people in Swansea have been provided with 2 bins; a larger bin to keep<br />

outside <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> a h<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>y caddy to keep in the kitchen. Collecti<strong>on</strong>s of kitchen <strong>waste</strong><br />

are now made weekly <strong>on</strong> the same day as the black bags.<br />

Free caddy liners to help keep the caddy clean as well as a special tag to<br />

request more bags are also available to the citizens. These liners are made<br />

from a special compostable plastic.<br />

For garden <strong>waste</strong>, the public has been provided with 2 reusable garden <strong>waste</strong><br />

bags. The bags are collected <strong>on</strong> a fortnightly basis <strong>on</strong> the same day as your<br />

green bags. Up to an additi<strong>on</strong>al 4 bags at £2 each can be purchased from the<br />

Civic Centre. Once collected, these materials are shredded <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> composted.<br />

This soil enhancer is available free of charge from the Tir John Community<br />

Recycling Site, Danygraig Road at St Thomas throughout the year.<br />

A home composting campaign (Swansea Home Composting Campaign) is<br />

also in progress <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> provides compost bins to the public from £12.00.<br />

Northumberl<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> is a cerem<strong>on</strong>ial county <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> unitary district in the North East<br />

of Engl<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>. It borders Cumbria to the west, County Durham to the south <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Tyne <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> Wear to the south east, as well as having a border with the Scottish<br />

Borders council area to the north, <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> a North Sea coastline with a 103 km l<strong>on</strong>g
