MAIN VIRTUS AWARD FOR<br />
CONTRIBUTION AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL<br />
December <strong>2008</strong> - <strong>Telenor</strong> received the Virtus Award, presented annually <strong>for</strong> corporate philanthropy, in the category<br />
of special contribution at the national level in the area of corporate responsibility, at a ceremony in the National<br />
Assembly on December 10, <strong>2008</strong>. The Award, established by the Balkan Community Initiatives Fund, the largest<br />
domestic foundation which supports civil actions and groups in Serbia, was established last year, and it is presented<br />
to corporations that support sustainable and long-term nonprofit projects of general interest to society.<br />
As a socially responsible company, <strong>Telenor</strong> established its own foundation, which has supported by more than 50<br />
projects this year alone.<br />
“We see this award as a valuable recognition of <strong>Telenor</strong>’s ef<strong>for</strong>ts so far, and a motivation <strong>for</strong> new investments in<br />
Serbia’s society. We are glad to help establish an effective dialogue between the civil and corporate sectors, since<br />
Serbia and its citizens can benefit from it considerably in the long run,” said Sandra Štajner, the <strong>Telenor</strong> Chief<br />
Communications Officer, upon receiving the Award of the behalf of the company.<br />
The Balkan Community Initiatives Fund organizes the project, the contest and the award ceremony in cooperation<br />
and under the auspices of USAID, the Institute <strong>for</strong> Sustainable Communities (ISC), the Czech Ministry of Foreign<br />
Affairs, the VIA Foundation, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF), the C.S. Mott Foundation, Executive Group,<br />
Ekonomist Media Group (EMG), E-kapija, the Public Relations Society of Serbia, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the City of<br />
Belgrade, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, and many other institutions, media and<br />
business associations.<br />
