FOR VULNERABLE GROUPS
WINTER CAMP FOR
CHILDREN WITHOUT PARENTAL CARE
January 2008 – The Association of Extreme Sports of Serbia and Telenor organized a winter camp for children
without parental care on Mt. Stara Planina. Twenty-five young people between the ages of 9 and 18, wards
from homes for children without parental care throughout Serbia, took part in the seven-day mountaineering,
orienteering and snowboarding camp. Children learned some of alternative sports and participated in workshops
on prevention of drug addiction, alcoholism and violence. This was the second time that Telenor worked with the
Association, after they jointly implemented a successful mountaineering summer camp on Mt. Kopaonik in 2007.
ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT AND
INCLUSION OF CHILDREN WITHOUT PARENTAL CARE
June 2008 - Telenor Foundation continued a successful cooperation with Resource Center from Leskovac, in
creating and implementing the Program of Economic Empowerment and Inclusion of Children without Parental Care,
in collaboration with Home Economics Center ”Danica Vuksanović“ and Centers for Social Work of Jablanica District.
Numerous volunteers and youths without parental care joined the support program called ”Big Brother/Sister“,
which encourages children without parental care to spend time with young volunteers, in order to develop good
communication and cooperation. The children who took part in this program were adequately prepared for various
vocations, e.g. beautician, masseur, baker, pastry-cook, hairdresser, electrician, grill tender, etc.
