FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
January 2008 – The INSPIRE leadership training program was organized for Telenor’s middle management, so that
current and future leaders might gain tools and advice that would help them face challenges related to successfully
organizing, leading and developing teams in circumstances of continuous and rapid change, as imposed by the
mobile telecommunications market today.
As part of both small and large teams, 66 managers from various fields and organizational groups participated in
workshops, exercises and lectures which were an integral part of the training program.
The final assignment for all training participated was a corporate responsibility project – the teams, each comprising
of five members, were given the assignment to design and jointly carry out a support project for the “Milan Petrović”
School for Children with Special Needs in Novi Sad.
The exhibition held at the Telenor building, on January 24, 2008, was the result of the joint work of two project
teams, which opted to support the school by organizing sales exhibitions of handiworks, i.e. informing business
partners of the school’s capabilities and requirements, with the aim of attracting the attention of a larger number
potential long-term partners for the school.
On this occasion, Telenor’s business partners had the opportunity to purchase works created at the school and at
the school’s workshops, such as pottery, woven scarves, painted hats, one-off handmade pieces from the tailor
workshop, baskets with spices and jam made at the school farmstead in Čenej, as well as paintings. Also exhibited
were ten works of art donated to the School by Serbian painters, created during the fifth annual art colony “On the
Canal between Two Bridges”.
The projects for the school created by other groups included: costume concert, designing and constructing a bakery
with a drying room, providing an adequate computer, designing, creating and maintaining school Internet through
the development of a Web-base application, center for telephone surveying, producing bookmarkers, purchasing
of a plastification and binding machine, media promotion of the school’s program and educating students on the
rational use of energy and constructing didactic material.
