Dear Parents/Guardians,
As I am completing my first round of teacher observations/evaluations, I want to share that
our teachers are phenomenal!!! The lessons they plan facilitate and engage your children in
daily are top – rate. I can honestly say I have not seen a bad lesson. I thought the Common
Core Curriculum would be difficult to implement but the teachers have proven me wrong.
Although there is much growth to be had by all, our teachers should be awarded due to the
most innovative, highly effective methodologies that utilize daily. We are all grateful for
this remarkable group of professionals!

LES “Out To Eat Night” October 22 – Milton’s Pizza Six Forks Road 5:00p to 8:00p

No cooking! No clean up! Dine in or take out. A portion of the proceeds purchased by LES
families will go to LES!! The class with the most number of students attending the Out to
Eat Night wins a prize!

Parents, come join us at 9:30am on Tuesday, 10/23 in the Media Center for an hour with
LES Principal, Cecelia Chapman. This is a great time for you to ask questions, hear about
what’s going on at school and meet other LES parents. Coffee will be provided by the LES
PTA.

LES Boosterthon Fun Run

The goal of the Boosterthon Fun Run is to raise funds for our school while teaching our
kids about the importance of Fitness, Leadership, and Character. If you are interested in
helping with the upcoming LES Boosterthon Fun Run, please contact Holly. On 10/23 we
will kick off this fun event with Student Pep Rallies. Please feel free to attend and hear all
about the exciting journey we will be taking on “Highway USA!” The actual Fun Run will
take place on November 2 – your teacher will provide you with the time your class will be
running – parents, PLEASE come out and support your child as he/she participates in this

LES Kids Voting – PTA needs volunteers to run the voting booth!

We have a list of classes interested in participating in Kids Voting on Monday, November
5. This is a great opportunity for these students to have a chance to actively understand the
process of voting. We are very excited to be working with our school to make this
opportunity available. Please contact Amy Brown, PTA Volunteer Coordinator if you
would be able to help on this day – if you can donate one hour, it will really help!

Congratulations to Ms. Harper's 4th grade class. They won the Moe's taco party for the
most books sold! Congratulations to Reagan W. who sold 100 books and won a $250 gift
card to Great Wolf Lodge. All other prizes will be distributed on Monday 10/22.

Family Fun Chairperson – This is a PTA Board Position. Programs remaining for this
year are Story Fest (March), Sock Hop (April) and Field Day (June with chair-Andy
Crawford).
Chairperson for Story Fest – one or two people could work together to plan a great night
out at our school for families to come and listen to their favorite teachers read stories while
enjoying cookies and juice in their pajamas! (March 14)
Chairperson for Sock Hop – one or two people to plan the Sock Hop which takes place
on the same night at the Silent Auction. (April 26)
