The major in automotive industry management leads<br />
to a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree and is designed<br />
to prepare its students for automotive industry<br />
management careers by providing automotive<br />
management skills, supported by the business and<br />
technical background requisite for success in the<br />
automotive industry. The curriculum emphasizes<br />
personnel supervision, financial analysis, customer<br />
relations, warranty administration, sales promotions,<br />
techniques of technical problem-solving, service<br />
management, marketing, merchandising and distribution<br />
methods used by the automotive aftermarket,<br />
automotive manufacturer and import industries.<br />
Program Goals<br />
• Prepare students with the appropriate knowledge<br />
and skills to enter the workforce as productive,<br />
accountable and responsible employees.<br />
• To provide students with theoretical and hands-on<br />
laboratory experiences designed to develop the<br />
knowledge and skills for success in automotive<br />
management careers.<br />
• To utilize an advisory committee of automotive<br />
business leaders to advise and support the AIM<br />
program on a range of issues, which includes<br />
keeping the curriculum current with industry<br />
needs.<br />
Expected Student Outcomes<br />
Upon successful completion of the AIM curriculum, the<br />
graduate should:<br />
• Possess technical knowledge and understanding<br />
of various automotive systems-engines, suspension<br />
and brakes, power trains and drive lines, fuel<br />
and emissions, electrical and electronic…<br />
• Possess knowledge and understanding of the<br />
operation and management of the automotive<br />
parts business—financial systems, computerized<br />
management and inventory control systems,<br />
customer relations, environmental regulations…<br />
• Possess knowledge and understanding of general<br />
business operations—courses taken within the<br />
Hasan School of Business that comprise a minor<br />
in Business Administration, plus additional<br />
selected courses.<br />
General Requirements for the AIM Program<br />
• AIM majors are required to complete an approved<br />
curriculum with a minimum grade of C (2.00)<br />
earned in all major courses.<br />
• AIM majors are required to demonstrate<br />
intellectual skills and knowledge in related<br />
business courses to satisfy the minor and<br />
institutional requirements.<br />
• AIM minors are required to complete the<br />
approved curriculum with a minimum grade of<br />
C (2.00) earned in all minor courses.<br />
