CSU-<strong>Pueblo</strong><br />
provides services in twelve southern <strong>Colorado</strong><br />
counties and one northern New Mexico county.<br />
Services include:<br />
• Information about college and career<br />
opportunities.<br />
• Assistance in completing admissions and financial<br />
aid applications.<br />
• Referrals to GED and college preparation<br />
programs.<br />
• Information about scholarship opportunities.<br />
The central office is located on the CSU-<strong>Pueblo</strong><br />
campus, Room 227 in the Library Wing. Satellite<br />
offices are located at the <strong>Pueblo</strong> Workforce Center<br />
and on community college campuses in <strong>Colorado</strong><br />
Springs, Lamar, La Junta, and Trinidad. To access<br />

STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES<br />
Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded<br />
TRIO grant project providing an array of services to<br />
low-income, first-generation students and students<br />
with disabilities. The purpose of SSS is to increase the<br />
retention and graduation rate of participants. This is<br />
accomplished by providing supportive services such as<br />
academic action plans, peer tutoring (one-to-one,<br />
group, and drop-in), academic, financial aid, career<br />
counseling; and supplemental instruction in challenging<br />
courses.<br />
To be eligible to receive services from the SSS Project,<br />
students must meet the following requirements:<br />
• Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at CSU-<br />
<strong>Pueblo</strong> as an undergraduate student,<br />
• Be a low-income student as outlined by Department<br />
of Education criteria, OR<br />
• Be a first-generation student, OR<br />
• Be a student with a documented disability, AND<br />
• Meet the academic criteria as established by the<br />
SSS Project, AND<br />
• Be a citizen, national, or permanent resident of the<br />
U.S.<br />
Students who meet these criteria are encouraged to<br />
apply to become a participant in the CSU-<strong>Pueblo</strong> SSS<br />

UPWARD BOUND<br />
The Upward Bound Program at <strong>Colorado</strong> <strong>State</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong>-<strong>Pueblo</strong> is a pre-college program which<br />
generates skills and motivation necessary for success<br />
in education beyond high school. The criteria for<br />
acceptance into the program includes low-income and<br />
potential first generation college students who are<br />
enrolled in high schools seeking to prepare themselves<br />
for entry into a postsecondary institution.<br />
Eligible participants must:<br />
1) Have completed the eighth grade;<br />
2) Be between the ages of 13 - 19;<br />
3) Be currently enrolled in a high school;<br />
4) Be planning to attend college;<br />
5) Need the services of Upward Bound to help<br />
fulfill their goals; and<br />
6) Have a high school grade point average of<br />
2.500 or better.<br />
Basic skills, counseling, tutoring and skills necessary<br />
for acceptance into and success in college are<br />
provided. An intensive six-week summer program<br />
offers six credits of college courses for graduating<br />
seniors. The remaining undergraduates attend daily<br />
classes emphasizing mathematics, science, English,<br />

VETERAN’S UPWARD BOUND PROGRAM<br />
Veteran’s Upward Bound is a U.S. Department of<br />
Education TRIO Grant program designed to provide<br />
academic refresher assistance, training and advising<br />
to low income and/or first generation honorably<br />
discharged veterans who are pursuing a GED<br />
certificate and/or are preparing to enter postsecondary<br />
education. Non-credit academic instruction<br />
is available in the subject areas of English, mathematics,<br />
science, careers, computer literacy, and Spanish.<br />
This program is an opportunity for veterans to reestablish<br />
fundamental ideas and study habits, which<br />
