Disability Resource Office<br />

The Disability Resource Office provides support and<br />

reasonable academic accommodations to students<br />

Undeclared Academic Advising for Continuing and<br />

New Transfer Students<br />

Undeclared advising for continuing and transfer<br />

students involves assisting with appropriate course<br />

selection, guidance, and assists students in determining<br />

an appropriate major. Career counseling and<br />

assessment tools are used to help students determine<br />

an appropriate major. We are located in Psychology,<br />

Suite 232 and can be reached at (719) 549-2581.<br />

Writing Room<br />

The Writing Room provides an inviting atmosphere<br />

where students can receive advice and positive<br />

feedback on any type of writing from research papers,<br />

letters, and writing assignments to poetry and fiction.<br />

THE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY<br />

The <strong>University</strong> Library supports teaching and learning<br />

by providing information services to students, faculty,<br />

staff and patrons throughout the city and region.<br />

Library faculty and staff assist patrons in learning how<br />

to find and utilize books, periodicals, internet sources,<br />

audiovisual materials, and government documents<br />

through instruction for individuals, small groups or<br />

formal classes. Staff also prepare subject bibliographies<br />

for classes and arrange interlibrary loans.<br />

Approximately 200,000 volumes are available, as well<br />

as access to over 15,000 periodical titles. The library’s<br />

website provides access to over 75 online databases<br />

with reference information and journal articles, as well<br />

as web-based tutorials and help guides.<br />

The <strong>University</strong> Library is a designated selective<br />

depository for U.S. Government documents. Special<br />

collections include the papers of Vincent Massari,<br />

former state senator; the Alva Adams family papers;<br />

Tobie Hopkins Black Literature; the Ralph Taylor<br />

Southwest collection, and the Edward O’Brien Western<br />

collection.<br />

VEHICLE PARKING PERMITS<br />

Students who park their vehicles on campus must<br />

display a valid permit. Permits may be obtained at the<br />

cashier’s window or Auxiliary Services (OUC Room<br />

102) prior to the first day of class. The cost of the<br />

permit is $50 for a decal, or $75 for a hang tag which<br />

can be transferred from one vehicle to another.<br />

FEDERALLY SPONSORED PROGRAMS<br />

FIRST-YEAR PROGRAMS<br />

First-Year Programs seeks to ease the transition into<br />

college life for first-year students. Out student-focused<br />

advisors assist students in any way possible that will<br />

ensure a successful first year and beyond. Advisors<br />

connect with students on a regular basis so as to<br />

prevent any difficulty from arising. A variety of<br />

resources are available such as career planning,<br />

academic skills assessments, tutoring, and various<br />

social and academic activities. The First-Year Experience<br />

Course, New Student Orientation, and Learning<br />

Communities are also offered through First-Year<br />

Programs.<br />

First-Year Student Advising<br />

All first-year, first-time students are advised through<br />

First-Year Programs. The First-Year Advising program<br />

works with new students during their first year in<br />

college. This program advises students for appropriate<br />

course selection and gives students the information<br />

and guidance they need to be successful college<br />

students. First-Year Programs is located in<br />

Psychology, Suite 232 and can be reached at (719)<br />

New Student Orientation<br />

New Student Orientation informs first-time students of<br />

critical campus information. Attendance at orientation<br />

is required in order to obtain your student ID and<br />

parking pass. More information is on our website at<br />

http://www.colostate-pueblo.edu/orientation. More<br />

information will be sent to first-time students early in<br />

the summer of <strong>2007</strong>.<br />

SOUTHERN COLORADO EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY<br />

CENTER (SCEOC)<br />

SCEOC is a federally funded grant program, sponsored<br />

by CSU-<strong>Pueblo</strong> that assists eligible firstgeneration,<br />

low-income, and disabled individuals in<br />

gaining access to higher education. The program<br />
