Student Life<br />
MASSARI ARENA AND SAM JONES SPORTS<br />
CENTER<br />
This facility is located directly east of the Occhiato<br />
<strong>University</strong> Center. It includes a large indoor swimming<br />
pool, four racquetball courts, a weight room (including<br />
free weights, stationary bicycles, stair climbers, etc.),<br />
and the gymnasium. Racquetball equipment may be<br />
checked out at the Massari Arena Office.<br />
RAWLINGS OUTDOOR SPORTS COMPLEX<br />
The Rawlings Outdoor Sports Complex consists of<br />
tennis courts, baseball and softball fields and a soccer<br />
field. These areas are used by sports teams for<br />
training and for use by student and public groups.<br />
STUDENT CONDUCT<br />
The Dean of Student Life and Development, or his/her<br />
designee, is responsible for promoting observance of<br />
student code of conduct, enforcing the standards, and<br />
administering sanctions for violations of the code. If it<br />
is determined that a student has violated a <strong>University</strong><br />
regulation, a sanction may be imposed. Sanctions<br />
range from warning to expulsion from the <strong>University</strong>.<br />
Decisions made by the Dean of Student Life and<br />
Development, or his/her designee, may be appealed to<br />
the Campus Appeals Board, the highest hearing and<br />
appeal board for non-academic matters at the<br />
<strong>University</strong>.<br />
Students participating in the <strong>University</strong>’s intercollegiate<br />
athletic programs are also subject to the Athletic<br />
Department’s Code of Conduct.<br />
Details of the hearing processes are contained in the<br />
Student Conduct Code - Policies and Procedures<br />
Manual which contains a detailed explanation and<br />
description of institutional disciplinary philosophy, rules<br />
and regulations. Decisions involving academic<br />
infractions, appeals, etc., must follow the procedures<br />
established by the academic division of the <strong>University</strong>.<br />
STUDENT CONDUCT CODE<br />
Members of the <strong>Colorado</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong>-<strong>Pueblo</strong><br />
community are expected to observe the laws of the<br />
City of <strong>Pueblo</strong>, the <strong>State</strong> of <strong>Colorado</strong>, and the Federal<br />
Government, and to respect the rights and privileges of<br />
other members of the community. CSU-<strong>Pueblo</strong><br />
students, non-students, faculty, and staff, upon<br />
entrance to the university, neither gain nor lose any of<br />
their rights or responsibilities of citizenship. As a<br />
community, CSU-<strong>Pueblo</strong> has the obligation to<br />
establish those regulations that best serve and protect<br />
its integrity as an institution of higher learning.<br />
Any student or student organization found to have<br />
committed or to have attempted to commit the<br />
following misconduct is subject to disciplinary sanction:<br />
1) Academic dishonesty including but not limited to:<br />
cheating, plagiarism, unauthorized possession or<br />
disposition of academic materials, falsification, or<br />
facilitation of acts of dishonesty. Specific procedures<br />
for cases of academic dishonesty are also<br />
described in the Academic Policies in the General<br />
<strong>Catalog</strong>, the Faculty Handbook, or the Honor<br />
Code of the Nursing Program as applicable.<br />
2) Knowingly furnishing false information to any<br />
<strong>University</strong> official, faculty member, office, or<br />
organization or intentionally initiating or causing to<br />
be initiated any false report, warning or threat of<br />
fire, explosion, or other emergency.<br />
3) Forgery, altercation, misuse, mutilation, or unauthorized<br />
removal of any <strong>University</strong> document, record,<br />
identification, educational material, or property.<br />
4) Disruption or obstruction of teaching, classroom or<br />
other educational interactions, research, administration<br />
or disciplinary proceedings, or participation<br />
in an activity that disrupts normal <strong>University</strong><br />
activities, and/or threatens property or bodily harm<br />
or intentionally interferes with the right of access<br />
to <strong>University</strong> facilities or freedom of movement of<br />
any person on campus.<br />
5) Engaging in behavior or activities that obstruct the<br />
right of free speech or expression of any person<br />
on campus. (For more information, refer to the<br />
CSU-<strong>Pueblo</strong> policy on Freedom of Expression and<br />
Inquiry, which addresses student rights and<br />
responsibilities related to political expression, and<br />
contact the Office of Dean of Student Life and<br />
Development if you believe you have been treated<br />
differently because of your political, or other,<br />
perspectives.)<br />
6) Abusive conduct, including physical abuse, verbal<br />
abuse, threats, intimidation, stalking, hazing,<br />
coercion, and/or other conduct which threatens or<br />
endangers the physical or psychological health,<br />
safety, or welfare of one’s self, another individual<br />
or a group of individuals.<br />
7) Harassment of any member of the <strong>University</strong><br />
community, meaning verbal or physical harassment<br />
on the basis of gender, race sexual orientation,<br />
age, religion, or physical disability. (Refer to<br />
the CSU-<strong>Pueblo</strong> Sexual Harassment Policy and<br />
contact the Office of Affirmative Action for more<br />
information on these issues.)<br />
