PROGRAMS, SERVICES, AND POLICIES<br />

The Division of Student Life operates a number of<br />

offices, facilities, programs and organizations that exist<br />

primarily to enhance and support students’ academic<br />

lives at the <strong>University</strong>.<br />

HOUSING<br />

Freshman Live-in Policy<br />

All single, first year freshmen under the age of 21 with<br />

a home address more than 50 miles from campus, are<br />

required to live in the Belmont Residence Hall. The<br />

housing agreement is for the entire academic year.<br />

Students who live in the residence hall are required to<br />

have a meal plan. All questions regarding this policy<br />

should be directed to the Housing Office at (719) 549-<br />

2602.<br />

Belmont Residence Hall<br />

Belmont Residence Hall (BRH) houses nearly 500<br />

students in three wings, which are joined by a large<br />

common area. The common area serves as a<br />

gathering area and has a large-screen television and a<br />

kitchen. The housing office and student mailroom are<br />

located adjacent to the area. The lower level of the<br />

common area consists of a recreation area (including a<br />

court for volleyball and basketball), a weightlifting gym,<br />

study lounge, and laundry facilities. BRH also has a<br />

computer lab, tutoring lab, pool table, ping-pong table,<br />

vending machines, an ice machine, and many other<br />

amenities. The front desk is staffed 24-hours by<br />

student staff to answer questions and check out<br />

equipment.<br />

All rooms are designed for two people, and single<br />

occupancy is available on a very limited basis.<br />

Students may be placed on a single room waiting list<br />

based on the date in which the Housing Office<br />

receives their room reservation form and deposit.<br />

Rooms are approximately 12 feet by 13 feet in size.<br />

Each room contains two extra long twin beds, with<br />

drawer space below, two desks with a study lamp built<br />

into the desk, two bookshelves, and two desk chairs.<br />

A $125 deposit must accompany each application for<br />

space in BRH; $25 of the deposit is used as an<br />

application fee and is non-refundable; $100 of the fee<br />

is used as a security/damage deposit. The deposit is<br />

held in escrow for the duration of the student’s<br />

occupancy.<br />

<strong>University</strong> Village at Walking Stick Student<br />

Apartment Housing<br />

(In cooperation with <strong>Colorado</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong>-<strong>Pueblo</strong>)<br />

<strong>University</strong> Village at Walking Stick is the <strong>Colorado</strong><br />

<strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong>-<strong>Pueblo</strong> on-campus apartment<br />

community for students and offers a unique housing<br />

opportunity for sophomores, juniors, and seniors and<br />

those students who are exempt from the BRH live-in<br />

requirement. (Freshmen under the age of 21 will be<br />

placed on a waiting list and placed in the apartments if<br />

space is available.)<br />

These spacious two-story town homes offer an array of<br />

amenities and conveniences for students seeking “off<br />

campus living” while enjoying the benefits of living in<br />

the heart of the CSU-<strong>Pueblo</strong> campus. The apartments<br />

were built for energy efficiency and feature energy<br />

saving appliances and features throughout.<br />

The apartments offer campus High-Speed Internet<br />

access in each bedroom, a common area house<br />

phone, and premium cable TV in each bedroom and<br />

the common area and each unit features individually<br />

controlled heating and air-conditioning. Two floor plans<br />

are available each consisting of 4-bedrooms, 2-baths.<br />

All utilities are included in the cost and a $350 deposit<br />

is required.<br />

The interior of each apartment offers a kitchen, dining<br />

and living room on the first floor and a study loft on the<br />

second floor. Each floor plan features two private<br />

locking bedrooms and a semi-private locking vanity<br />

and bathroom on each floor. Bedrooms range in size<br />

from 108 square feet to 124 square feet with large<br />

closets. A private phone is available at additional cost<br />

in each bedroom. An inviting patio also offers access<br />

to a storage room and another storage area is offered<br />

in the apartment home.<br />

Each student at <strong>University</strong> Village has an individual<br />

housing contract with payment options to fit his or her<br />

academic funding situation. Academic year occupancy<br />

begins August 1st and extends through May offering<br />

an expanded period of living to accommodate<br />

student’s specific needs. Full calendar year occupancy<br />

is always available and students in the apartments are<br />

not required to purchase a meal plan.<br />

Study in the privacy of your own home and after class,<br />

lounge on your patio, grill your dinner and enjoy the<br />

magnificent mountain views available at <strong>University</strong><br />

Village. The student community also features a<br />

spacious and inviting clubhouse, on-site office with<br />

professional management staff, a student Assistant<br />

Director and two Community Advisors, a 24-hour<br />
