THE ARTS PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCES 2012-2013 PROGRAMS
The Arts Partnership of Greater Hancock County has announced its education programs for the 2012-2013 school year.
Register now for these arts opportunities!
School Day Performances are approximately 1 hour in length and are held at Central Auditorium. Seats are $3.00 and
study guides are available for all performances. The schedule includes the following productions:
Toledo Symphony Orchestra – November 7, 2012; 9:45am and 11:15am
(Ideal for 4 th through 12 th grade)
This Young People’s Concert will center on the theme of “Dance.” Music such as the First Ballet Suite by Shostakovich
and Dances from The Bartered Bride by Smetana, as well as music by Dvorak and Kabalevsky will be central to this ageappropriate
program. Bring your enthusiasm and imagination for a fun-filled experience that is sure to make you smile and
stomp your feet!
Harry the Dirty Dog – November 14, 2012; 10am and 12:30pm
(Musical ideal for PreK through 2 nd grade)
Harry’s world is practically perfect. But there’s just one problem – he hates taking baths. So, one morning Harry runs
away, “beyond the fence” to many obstacles that face him. During this adventure, Harry realizes a lot about rules, family,
and love. ArtsPower’s production of this musical includes over 20 musical numbers full of singing and dancing, and it is
based on the classic book by Gene Zion.
The Nutcracker – November 30, 2012; 10am and 12:30pm
(Ideal for grades 3 rd through 12 th grade)
‘Tis the season for magic and fun as the beauty and joy of the Nutcracker Ballet come alive! This timeless holiday ballet
takes the audience on a magical journey on an enchanted Christmas Eve with a girl named Clara, whose toy nutcracker
comes to life and whisks her away to the Land of Sweets. Join us for the abridged version of this delightful story, joyful
dancing, and enduring music by Tchaikovsky; re-envisioned, re-imagined and performed by Neos Dance Theatre.
Huck and Tom and the Mighty Mississippi – March 5, 2013; 10am and 12:30pm
(Musical ideal for 2 nd through 5 th grade)
This production introduces the audience to the characters, setting, humor, and humanity of Mark Twain’s most famous
novels. Selected scenes from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn form a basis of a
musical that introduces students to some of the most legendary characters in American literature.
Aesop’s Fables – March 11, 2013; 10am and 12:30pm
(Ideal for Kindergarten through 2 nd grade)
Aesop’s delightful fables of wit and wisdom, including The Stag at the Pool, The Tortoise and the Hare, The Fox and the
Grapes, The Wind and the Sun, and The Lion and the Mouse come to life through the large and colorful puppets of nationally
acclaimed puppeteer and storyteller, Jim West. We also meet Aesop himself in his Greek toga, with his dog Moral, by
his side.
