Redditch has a number of water features and work
has been undertaken to ensure that these areas
are able to support wildlife and are maintained as
important amenity features. We have created 3
small new ponds at Arrow Valley Country Park
adjacent to the balancing area to increase the
range of wet-land habitat within the park and
therefore the bio-diversity of the site.
We have carried out dredging work at Oakenshaw
Spinney, Southcrest, Beoley Mill, Batchley and
Matchborough ponds with the major project being
undertaken at Arrow Valley Lake where large scale
revetment was carried out to the south bank. This
was specialist work that had to be undertaken
entirely from the water and included the
installation of bank stabilisation, coir rolls
containing suitable marginal plants as well as the
construction of 33 new fishing platforms including
those for disabled use.
