scott emerged as the starting right tackle in 2002 at Texas as a redshirt freshman and<br />

began the 2003 season as the starting left tackle. He started 45-of-51 of the games he<br />

played in, including his final 43.<br />

‣ in his senior season, scott was first-team all-american selection by the american<br />

football Coaches association, the associated Press, the football Writers association<br />

of america, The sporting News and the Walter Camp football foundation and was<br />

an all-Big 12 Conference first-team pick.<br />

‣ in 2005, he was a key part of a line that helped Texas rank first in the nation in scoring<br />

offense (50.2 ppg), second in rushing offense (274.9 ypg) and third in total offense<br />

(512.1 ypg) and cleared the way for Texas to set school single-season records in both<br />

points scored (652) and total yards (6,657). Texas’ 652 points broke the 22-year old<br />

NCaa record of 624 points set by Nebraska in 1983 as Texas scored at least 40 points<br />

in 12-of-13 games, including a national-leading and school-record 11 straight games.<br />

‣ Texas’ 3,574 rushing yards in 2005 were the fourth-most in school history and he<br />

helped Texas produce 600 yards of total offense in a school-record three games.<br />

Born Jonathan ray scott on January 10, 1983 in Dallas, Texas. Graduated in May 2005<br />

from the University of Texas liberal arts program with a bachelor’s degree in communications<br />

(radio/television/film).<br />

‣ six-time member of Texas’ athletics Director’s academic Honor roll. Named to the<br />

Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor roll in the fall of 2003.<br />

‣ Very active in the longhorns’ community service program, where scott was a regular<br />

visitor with teammates at the austin Children’s Hospital. also has volunteered time<br />

at The Texas school for the Deaf sports Day.<br />

‣ attended Carter (Dallas, Tex.) High school. earned second-team all-Usa honors from<br />

Usa Today and was named first-team Class 5a all-state as a senior; all-District<br />

accolades three times during his career.<br />

‣ His father, ray, was a defensive end/tight end at Prairie View a&M and was selected<br />
