MANE FACTS<br />
‣ Cherilus was a fan of the New england Patriots while growing up.<br />
Developed an appreciation for various aspects of different former<br />
offensive linemen’s games, such as seahawks T Walter Jones’ feet,<br />
former ravens’ T Jonathan ogden’s length and former saints/rams/<br />
Chiefs T Kyle Turley’s mindset.<br />
‣ Cherilus’ favorite entertainer is Will smith and he especially enjoys<br />
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. His favorite movies are: Gladiator and<br />
Man on Fire.<br />
‣ on game days, Cherilus is very particular about not feeling rushed. He<br />
makes sure to show up early so that he can get ready at his own pace.<br />
‣ outside of football, Cherilus is working on developing and opening a<br />
steak House/Bar. after his playing days, he wants to develop and lease<br />
commercial real estate.<br />

PRO<br />
Cherilus has been the lions starting right tackle in each of his first four<br />
seasons after being drafted by <strong>Detroit</strong> in the first round (17th overall) of the<br />
2008 Nfl Draft. He established himself as the lions’ starting right tackle<br />
as a rookie and has played in 59 games with 53 starts.<br />
2011: Team’s starting right tackle. offense finished season 10th in the<br />
Nfl in sacks per pass play (5.1 pct) yielding 36 sacks on 702 pass plays.<br />
‣ The lions’ season opener at Tampa Bay (9/11) marked the first time<br />
since 1981-82 that the lions have started the same offensive line<br />
(same personnel at same positions) in consecutive years on opening<br />
day. Cherilus, lT Jeff Backus, lG rob sims, C Dominic raiola and rG<br />
stephen Peterman was the team’s regular starting offensive line last<br />
year for the lions, including on opening day. The last offensive group<br />
to start in consecutive years was lT Karl Baldischeiler, lG Homer elias,<br />
C amos fowler, rG russ Bolinger and rT Keith Dorne. That group<br />
started on opening day in that lineup three consecutive years (1980-92).<br />
‣ Contributed on special teams (field goal unit) and played right tackle in<br />
the fourth quarter in the lions 48-3 win at Kansas City (9/18).<br />
‣ Part of an offensive line that did not give up a sack at Dallas (10/2) in<br />
the lions 34-30 comeback (24-point deficit).<br />
‣ Helped anchor an offensive line that allowed the lions to rush for 181<br />
yards on 20 carries (9.1 avg) and only one sack on 27 pass plays during<br />
the lions 24-13 win over Chicago (10/10).<br />
‣ Helped allow 104 yards rushing vs. atlanta (10/23) who’s defense is<br />
ranked sixth in the league in rushing yards per game. Maurice Morris<br />
finished with 9 carries for 50 yards (5.6 avg.) and Keiland Williams<br />
finished with 9 carries for 44 yards (4.9 avg.).<br />
‣ Part of an offensive line that rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown<br />
at Denver (10/30). Maurice Morris finished with 58 yards on 13 carries<br />
(4.5 avg.) and a touchdown. also helped protect Matthew stafford, who<br />
threw for 267 yards and 3 touchdowns.<br />
‣ Helped protect Matthew stafford in order for him to set a new franchise<br />
record 63 passing attempts vs. Chicago (11/13).<br />
‣ Paved the way for running back Kevin smith to rush for 140 yards vs.<br />
Carolina (11/20). They also gave QB Matthew stafford enough time to<br />
throw 5 touchdown passes in the game, yielding only two sacks on 38<br />
pass plays. as a team, the 169 yards on the ground was the secondhighest<br />
output of the season and the 495 total yards were the most<br />
by the lions since 1997.<br />
COLLEGE<br />
after starting 37 consecutive games at right tackle for the eagles, Cherilus<br />
moved to the demanding left tackle position his senior year becoming an<br />
instrumental part of an offense that ranked seventh in the nation with an<br />
average of 323.9 aerial yards per game.<br />
‣ as the recipient of the team’s Unsung Hero award in 2007, he also<br />
garnered all-atlantic Coast Conference second-team honors and<br />
served as a team captain.<br />
‣ started all 13 games at right tackle as a sophomore and delivered 53<br />
knockdown blocks and helped the eagles to lead the atlantic Coast<br />
Conference in total offense, averaging 387.75 yards per game.<br />
‣ Was the only redshirt freshman to start on BC’s offensive line in 2004,<br />
helping the team average 385.4 yards per game in total offense.<br />
‣ Closed out his career with 51 consecutive starts for the eagles, setting<br />

Boston Herald all-scholastic selection as a senior.<br />

that he captured all-state accolades from the Massachusetts state<br />
Coaches association.<br />
