over new orleans for the first win at the<br />
team’s new downtown detroit home. .<br />

‣ The <strong>Lions</strong> kicked off the 2000 season<br />
by defeating the Saints 14-10 at the<br />
Superdome. The <strong>Lions</strong>’ only touchdown<br />
of the game was courtesy of desmond<br />
howard’s franchise record 95-yard punt<br />
return in the fourth quarter.<br />
‣ K Jason hanson nailed a 39-yard field<br />
goal as time expired in regulation that<br />
lifted the <strong>Lions</strong> to a 13-12 win over<br />
new orleans in San antonio. The final<br />
drive was set up by a roy Williams<br />
40-yard grab on 4th-and-17. Williams’<br />
four catches for 111 yards against the<br />
