Last Thursday on Anzac Day Mrs Peavey along with 25 students and their parents
gathered with other members of the wider community at the Sunbury Memorial
Hall as a part of the Sunbury RSL Branch Anzac Day March and Ceremony. I
thank everyone for their involvement on this special day.

Maintenance Funding
It has been announced that the school will receive $497,000 maintenance funding. Whilst we are privileged to be the custodians of
the heritage buildings on the school site, maintaining the teaching and learning spaces can become an issue over time. We are
thrilled that the government has seen fit to provide this funding to the school and we will seek to maximise the benefit to our school
community.

From Monday, April 8 th to Sunday, June 9 th , we are collecting Woolworths
Earn & Learn points.
You will get one sticker for every $10 spent.
Place the stickers on the points sheet and return the sheet to school.
At the end of the promotion we will be able to get some great new equipment
for our school.

Our Weekly Recap:
Hi, last week was over in a flash thanks to the Anzac Day holiday on the Thursday, but we still had lots of
fun! We had Brad visit and play some AFL-based games with us; made sherbet from icing sugar, citric acid,
bi-carb soda and jelly crystals; made Anzac Day wreaths and of course made (and ate!) yummy Anzac
biscuits.

Skipping is an excellent way for children to keep fit and healthy. Over the next few weeks, your
child(ren) will be learning a range of fun skipping skills and new tricks. We will emphasise the
importance of regular physical activity and the importance of healthy eating for a healthy lifestyle.
On Friday 10 th May 2013 Melissa Enrink from the Foundation will speak at our assembly to launch our
official Jump Rope for Heart campaign.
At the end of the program we will be holding a Jump Off, an event to celebrate and culminate the Heart
Foundation Jump Rope for Heart program. This will be held on 7 June 2013. The Jump Off day is a
great opportunity for you to witness how much fun skipping can be, come along and pick up a rope!
2013 RUGBY LEAGUE
Ryan Walker from the National Rugby League and Melbourne Storm has been visiting our students in
Year 1, 2 and 4 classes to develop their skills and knowledge in Rugby League. Students in the other
year levels were taught the same skill set in their Physical Education Classes. The Year 4s has a gala
day at the school yesterday to put their skills into mini games situations. The year 5 and 6s will have
an opportunity to compete in the Billy Slater Cup which is an Interschool Rugby League Gala Day
Competition later in the term.
