MINNEAPOLIS (Mar. 12, 2012) – Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the world’s largest and most<br />

dynamic <strong>hotel</strong> <strong>group</strong>s, today announced the appointment of Rob Smith <strong>as</strong> <strong>general</strong> <strong>manager</strong> of the Radisson<br />

Plaza Hotel, Minneapolis. Smith, who <strong>as</strong>sumes his new role April 9, w<strong>as</strong> most recently <strong>general</strong> <strong>manager</strong> of<br />

the Radisson Aruba Resort, C<strong>as</strong>ino & Spa.<br />

“Rob’s extensive experience leading upscale, full-service <strong>hotel</strong>s and resorts will be an advantage in<br />

managing this important company-owned and managed Radisson <strong>hotel</strong>,” said Javier Rosenberg, chief operating<br />

officer, Radisson, Americ<strong>as</strong>, and executive vice president of owned and managed <strong>hotel</strong>s, Americ<strong>as</strong>. “He h<strong>as</strong><br />

overseen several key projects, including spearheading a USD 30 million renovation of the Radisson Aruba<br />

Resort, while simultaneously improving customer and employee satisfaction.”<br />

Smith brings a breadth of experience that includes 17 years serving <strong>as</strong> a <strong>hotel</strong> <strong>general</strong> <strong>manager</strong> in the<br />

U.S. and Caribbean. During his tenure at the Radisson Aruba Resort, Smith’s leadership helped reposition the<br />

property to the top-tier of the market.<br />

Before joining Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, Smith served <strong>as</strong> president and chief executive officer of<br />

the Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association/Aruba Convention Bureau. In 2005, he w<strong>as</strong> named the island’s<br />

“Hotelier of the Year” and w<strong>as</strong> nominated <strong>as</strong> <strong>hotel</strong>ier of the year by the Caribbean Hotel Association. Active in<br />

his local community, Smith currently serves on the board of the Caribbean Hotel Association and the Aruba<br />

Hotel & Tourism Association.<br />

Smith studied at the University of South Florida, specializing in business finance and American studies.<br />
