Unit I<br />

Sampling & Waveform Coding<br />

A. Introduction to digital communication, Sampling, reconstruction, ideal sampling, Flat<br />

top & Natural Sampling Aliasing, Aperture effect. Pulse code modulation &<br />

reconstruction, Quantization noise, Comp<strong>and</strong>ed PCM, Delta modulation, Adaptive delta<br />

modulation, Differential PCM, ISI <strong>and</strong> eye diagram.<br />

B. LPC <strong>and</strong> Line Coding, equalizers.<br />

Unit II<br />

Digital modulation techniques<br />

(8 Hrs)<br />

A. Digital modulation techniques such as Binary Phase Shift Keying, , Quadrature Phase<br />

Shift Keying, M-Ary PSK , Quadrature Amplitude Shift Keying, Binary Frequency Shift<br />

Keying, M-Ary Frequency Shift Keying, Minimum Shift Keying<br />

B. Differential Phase Shift Keying, Differentially encoded PSK, Gaussian Minimum Shift<br />

Keying.<br />
